Sooooo Good! – A Taste of Julia's catered our party last weekend and it was fabulous. They delivered and set up the food on time in our West Chester home. We ordered the fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, mac'n'cheese, collard greens, rolls and their sweet tea punch. We've dinned in some wonderful restaurants in the south (Charleston, SC, Savannah, Ga, etc.) and Julia's dishes are just as amazing. Our guest raved about everything especially the chicken and the mac'n'cheese-everyone went back for seconds and thirds. We look forward to having them cater future parties and visiting their restaurant.

nice soul food restaurants, good place to take the family, the food was great, tea punch is good, but a little too sweet for me.

Great place for home cooked southern-style food – We went to Taste of Julia's for the first time on Saturday 2/13/10. It's located on Route 4, where the old Spinning Fork used to be. Looks like they do a pretty good amount of take-out business, but also offer a full menu, and a buffet. That night they were doing a Valentine's special offering the buffet, appetizers, and dessert, but we stuck with the basic buffet, which was more than enough. While the buffet was a little pricey, it was far and away the best buffet I've ever had (and I am not typically a fan of buffets.) The buffet had fried chicken (which was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had), ham w/ pineapple, smothered chicken, meatloaf, greens & cabbage, sweet potatoes, black eyed peas and real southern style cornbread (just like my mom's, not that sweet stuff these Northerns call cornbread!) There was more on the buffet but you get the idea. We got there around 5:15p and were the only dine-in customers when we arrived, but the place was full by the time we left around 6:15p. The service was friendly and informal. It was a different dining experience, more like a pitch-in dinner at a Southern Baptist church where all the women cook for the taste of it and never heard of the words 'low fat.' I saw a negative review for Julia's on line but it was from about a year and a half ago. I have to say our experience was fantastic and I believe that they have worked out the 'kinks' that those diners experienced. Eating at Julia's was definitely a splurge both on price and calories, but we'll be back whenever we need some good old fashion comfort food. There is no place like Julia's in the area and it was a breath of fresh air.

A Taste of Bitterness – I just ate here for the first time and to say I wasn't impressed is an understatement ! In fact, I'm not even sure what they are doing is legal! Our family of four came into the restaraunt on a Saturday evening. The large overhead menu had various items on it, of which the most expensiVe was $ 9.00. As we were being seated I requested a menu. The lady seating us suggested the buffet. We were all very hungry and decided to get the buffet and forego waiting on a meal. There were no glasses. Everything was in plastic cups and styrofoam bowls except the plates. The food was no more impressive than the atmosphere.

Unlike any other buffet, you don't pay as you enter the restaurant, but when you leave. The cashier rang us up and Said $ 92.00 (and some odd change that didn't even register) I just heard $ 92.00!!!

We said, " What? For a buffet? For two adults and two children? Are you kidding?" She said " Oh wait a minute, I guess the register still had $13.00 on it from the last customer. Your total is $ 74.55." We responded, "What? How much is the buffet?" She said " Oh, it's $17.50 per person." Then when I questioned her as to why it was so expensive and why the buffet price wasn't visable anywhere on the menu she responded. " Well, it's not on the menu, and she turned around a sign on the front counter with the corresponding price and said , " I guess maybe that sign is supposed to be turned around the other way." Then she sat it back on the counter with the price facing the wall again ionstead of out where it would be visable by the customers. We feel like we were robbed! We could have eaten at any of the best restaurants around town for less money, where the prices are visable, the food is fabulous, and the atmosphere is cozy. What a rip off!!!! We will never go back and will tell everyone a Taste of Julia's is a Taste of ?#%!@#$#@!
