city search. this is the best restaurant I have been, the best pancakes, the best orange juice, the best owners, the best people. I miss you Recipes!!!!
Terrible Scrambled Eggs, Mediocre Service. My family decided to try Recipes based on a friend's recommendation. I ordered scrambled eggs with toast, potatoes and sausage. The eggs came to me hard and overcooked. When I told the waitress, she looked at me and said, "You wanted them soft?" Then she wanted to take my entire dish back, leaving me with nothing to eat. Had I let her do that, the rest of my meal would have been cold when it returned. The bigger issue was, Who in the world would expect hard, overcooked scrambled eggs to be the norm in any restaurant, let alone a breakfast restaurant??? When my 'new' eggs came back, they were indeed softer, but with NO flavor. Absolutely NO flavor. I even asked my husband to taste them and he was just as surprised and dumbfounded as I was. Also surprising was the lack of a children's menu. One can only assume the restaurant does this to make extra money by forcing children to order adult portions. The waitress didn't bother to explain the size of the pancakes (very large) - so we ordered two plates of pancakes and ended up taking one whole order home. We are very sorry we visited this restaurant this morning and feel we wasted forty dollars on a very mediocre meal. Next time we will go back to the tried and true Original Pancake House - that restaurant never disappoints.
My favorite!!. This is the best restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Love their breakfast and you have to try their version of a BLT for lunch. It is small and cozy so be patient, you will have to wait for a table. Even though they are small, they can accomodate a large group together. The best waitress is Julie...ask for her!
food allergy alert. First of all, let me just preface this with saying that I do love this restaurant. BUT after eating there yesterday and getting violently ill I'm not sure I will return. After notifying the server of my gluten allergies and requesting no english muffin because of it they proceeded to serve me a hollandaise sauce in which they used flour to thicken. First of all, as a server myself if someone at my table says they have an allergy I make positive nothing of that ingredient is included in their meal. Second of all, hollandaise sauce isn't made with flour, and if you thicken it with anything at all it's with a cornstarch mix. And last-knowing the complexities of this allergy I've safely eaten this recipe before, and never had a reaction such as I did yesterday. If you make changes, please be sure your staff is aware.
Best Breakfasts in the Detroit area.
This is my favorite breakfast restaurant! Service is always wonderful and friendly, food is fresh, and the blackberry sauce is the best. In fact, I'm bringing my mother here this morning for her 88th Birthday.
My husband and I come every weekend. A+ all around. If you haven't eaten here yet, you are in for a treat.
I love this restarunt. The ambiance is light and inviting. The service and the food are remarkable. The best breakfest, brunch in MetroDetroit.
Total lack of customer service. After reading the menu boasting numerous combinations of ingredients, I settled on one that included three major ingredients, one of which was artichokes. When the omlet arrived, I was informed as the plate was dropped down on the table by the less than charming waitress that it didn't contain artichokes, so I was going to have to eat it without them. At the very least, they should have told me before they made it, giving me the option to change my order. The same "bubbly" woman got frustrated with us when we got exasperated at the fourth time of telling her to stop warming our decaf with regular coffee. Strive all they want to be a trendy brunch spot, they need to shut their doors, enroll in restaurant management 101 and try again when they get a clue.
Give it a try. The best tasting and most unique breakfast menu in all of metro detroit. Very clean and comfortable atmosphere. The food and service are excellent and consistent...very hard to find if you ask me. They also cater for smaller business meetings.
Worth the Wait. I recently visited this cool little restaurant on the advice of a friend, and I'm glad I did. I was with my wife and daughter and although we had to wait for a little while (we went on a Sunday) the food was well worth it. If your picky about breakfast, like I am, make sure to give them a try.
