Amazing Vietnamese food, learn the language for better service – The one million choices on the menu is overwhelming and I have had a couple of things that I wouldnt eat again, but overall, the food here is the best.
I cannot order red curry in another restaurant because it can never live up to this place.
The stir-fried lemon grass chicken is so good, and the spring rolls, wide noodles, god its good.
If you closed youur eyes you would think you were in Vietnam.
the service is spotty. They mainly don't speak good English. Sometimes they have gotten my order wrong. If you order by numbers and dont substitute you should be okay.
If you have any food allergies dont count on them to practice good food segregation. My mom is allergic to peanuts and they ended up on top of the spring roll sauce (thank god they were visible) .
I also love the fact that its very quirky inside and they have karaoke in the back.
They also have bubble drinks.
Casual Uptown restaurant draws low-key foodies for Vietnamese-Laotian fare. – In Short
Decorations like artificial plants and a life-size Buddha statue at the entrance enliven this long, skinny dining room. The menu features more than 200 dishes, including crab and asparagus soup; garlic-shrimp stir-fried with broccoli in spicy sauce; and broad pan-fried rice noodles served with a choice of meats and vegetables. Other plates include papaya salad, spring rolls and red snapper served on a bed of lettuce and tomato.
Great Food, Lousey Service – Several times I have sworn that I would not return to this restaurant because of the terrible service. However, I have not found better, fresher vietnamese food anywhere in the city.
tasty – Before I tried Cafe Nhu-Hoa, I had eaten at most of the Vietnamese places on Argyle that surround it. I found most of them to be OK, but not very exciting. Cafe Nhu-Hoa beats them all. Sure, there are a few losers on the menu, but with a 130+ item menu, you're going to have to expect that not every dish is going to be stellar. Once you find the right dish, I think you'll be coming back here as often as I do (which would be more often if I didn't live 10 miles away). A few highly recommended items: the Royal Yellow Curry with chicken; the grilled beef curry over rice vermicelli; and the Stir-fried chicken lemon grass (with or without curry). If you're not on a diet, be sure to finish off your meal with a Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk (fattening but oh so good!!).
