Retro-outfitted servers deliver burgers, malts and sandwiches to your car at this '50s-style drive-in chain. – In Short
Founded in 1953 as a hamburger-and-root-beer stand, this nostalgic eatery is known for its intercom ordering system and roller-skating carhops. While servers rarely roller skate anymore, the famous made-to-order, all-beef burgers and thick malts are still menu favorites. Other signature items include Toaster sandwiches (made with thick Texas toast), extra-long chili and cheese hot dogs and hand-battered onion rings and tater tots. Desserts include chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes and fresh fruit slushes.
Worst Sonic I have ever been to – This is the worst Sonic Drive In that I have ever visited. The servers concentrate on everything BUT their jobs and management doesn't really care. I visited there at 10:30 on a Friday night - it was not particularly busy. I ordered my food and waited 20 minutes only to receive the wrong order. When I pointed out the error to the server, I was met with an eye roll and a sigh as she grabbed the sack out of my hand to correct the order. Another 15 minutes later, I received the correct order, but not the refund of the difference between the correct order and the incorrect order. I was told that this was because I used my credit card to pay and that it was not possible to refund the dollar that I was owed due to the error on the order. Angry and in a hurry, I let that slide and went on to work. When I opened the bag, I noticed that I had received NO condiments and NO napkins. Furthermore, the corn dog that I had ordered was still refrigerator cold on the inside, and the mozzerella sticks I had ordered were cold simply from sitting during the whole wrong order fiasco. Unable to leave my job, I called the number on the receipt. I spoke to a manager named Shay, who seemed to care little about my situation, but informed me that she was writing my name down and that I would be compensated with a free meal at my convenience and that I should just inform the server when I ordered that I was entitled to a free meal. On Saturday, I went to Sonic again to claim this compensation. Shay, of course, was not there. The manager that was on duty regarded me very suspiciously as I told him what had happened the night before and he informed me that he has a procedure that has to be followed which includes writing the guest's name in a book - my name was, apparently not in there. Again, I was treated rudely and have still been left uncompensated for an inedible meal.
