We went to Rocky’s Autos to check out Ford Escapes after my Wife was rear ended and received $8,000 for her totaled Ford Escape. We had gone to other dealerships before going to Rocky’s Autos so our credit had been run about 20 times causing our credit score to drop considerably. They tried to get us into a Ford Escape with prices ranging between $16,000 and $20,000. We test drove a few of them and they ran our credit and then they did the “bait and switch” on us. They came out with a 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel that had 120,000 miles on it but the engine was supposed to be brand new. The price of this Jeep Liberty was $12,000 so we had to get a loan for $4,000 after putting $8,000 down. We drove this vehicle for three months and then took it in to get the oil changed. The first place we took it to would not change the oil because the oil pan drain plug was just an unthreaded rubber plug. We found out that the threads were stripped in the oil pan so a regular drain plug with threads would not fit. We called Rocky’s Autos to get this fixed and at first we got the run around but Rocky’s Autos finally agreed to have the oil pan repaired. It took about three weeks to get the oil pan repaired and I went and picked up the vehicle and drove it home. About four days later my wife drove the Jeep with our Daughter and her friend to a birthday party about five miles away from our house. The Jeep broke down on a busy street with my wife and two kids stalled in the middle of a busy street. After trying to flag anyone down for help to move the vehicle to the side of the road a female stopped and helped her move the Jeep while all the males ignored a girl and two kids needing help in the middle of a busy street. We had to have the vehicle towed from the spot the vehicle died to the place that fixed the oil pan for Rocky’s Autos. We found out that it had a broken crankshaft and the new engine had a one year warranty on it so they agreed to fix it under warranty. The Jeep has now been in the shop for three months and we asked Rocky’s Autos if they would give us money for a one month vehicle payment of $200. They kept passing me around to different people and I finally talked to someone in charge and they told me that we bought the car “as is” so there is nothing they can do to help. We have now been without a vehicle for almost four months now without any reciprocation. We now have one personal vehicle to share between us and the least Rockies Auto could do, would be to make a payment or two on a vehicle that hasn’t been driven in four months. Do not let Rocky’s Autos do the bait and switch on you. Get out while you can. The bluebook price on our Jeep is around $6,000 which is about half the price we bought it at. The moral of the story is do not buy from Rocky’s Autos.
