Do not recommend – I've been a regular customer at this salon, but that will be changing as I've had several problems with them over the past year...
1) The older lady who seems to be the manager did my shellac nail polish. They were very busy and she was distracted - sent me home without properly finishing my nails. Realized that my nails were weird because she didn't put the top coat on (which is necessary with gel polish), so I had to go back to get it fixed.
2) A different time I went to get gel polish, I specifically told the technician that I wanted only a polish change, not a manicure, because I am on a budget. She kept trying to talk me into a manicure, and I was adamant that I only wanted to change the polish. Finally, she went ahead and did the full manicure anyways because she said it bugged her to not do my cuticles. This would have been fine if she'd done it for free, but then she went ahead and charged me the full manicure price anyways.
3) 1 week after this manicure, I noticed my polish was turning brown (I got French). I wasn't into any solvents, so I looked it up on the CND website (the company who makes shellac) and it said that it will turn brown if the salon did not properly cure the top coat with the UV light.
So I went in today to complain and to get it redone, but the older lady (from my 1st complaint) began arguing with me, saying that I probably was using hair dye or cleaning solution. I said no, I was not using any of that, and told her what CND said. She said that it was because it had been 2 weeks since I'd gotten them done. I've had gel manicures for a month, and have never had them turn brown, which I told her.
She continued to argue with me, telling me that I "didn't know what I was getting into with my nails" - like I was an idiot or something. She insisted on getting in the last word, so I finally gave up and left. Very rude.
I've also had problems with their gel polish chipping after only 1-2 weeks, and they won't guarantee their work, so good luck on getting botched jobs redone!
Very Disappointed – When myself & 3 friends made pedicure appts at Gateway Nails, we were not prepared for such an unpleasant experience. I have gone here many times & the people are usually friendly & I have always had a great experience, that is until my last visit. When we arrived for our appts, they had taken 4 walk-ins in front of us. I'm sorry, but the last I checked, the people with appts should be a priority. We took our seats & they only started the water in the 1st chair & it was cold. They started to work on 1 of us, while the other 3 just sat & waited. We asked politely to get water in our baths while we waited & we were rudely told that "we would have to wait a minute." At this point I was ready to walk out. We had never had this kind of service! After waiting longer, we asked another person there about adding water to the tubs - we didn't mind waiting, we just wanted to be able to soak our feet while we sat there. The guy filled up 1 of our tubs, leaving 2 of us still sitting there! We had to ask him again to fill the other 2 & he looked like we were inconveniencing him. He then gave my friend the shortest pedicure she had ever had - 15 mintues & a paint job that was no better than the ones we can do at home. There were gaps on the sides of her nails & it didn't even look like there was a 2nd coat. Before she could say anything, he had moved her to the drying table & moved on to the next person - me. I had waited 25 minutes in lukewarm water & received the same 15 minute pedicure as my friend. My other 2 friends faired better, but not by much. I had recommended this place to all of them, who already have places they frequent, & I was completely embarrassed that I brought them here. The pedicures we got were not worth the $23 they charge. I understand when they are busy, but that is no excuse to be rude and to provide bad customer service. I was very disappointed with my experience and I will not go there again & I recommend that others stay away from here as well.
