It was better years ago – My dad used to take me to this diner growing up, use to take the train from sunset pk just to have lunch or breakfast depending on our mood. I would half to agree with some of the reviewers below this establishment is not what it used to be when Me and my dad use to eat here as a youngster. The prices went sky high on everything can of soda $1.98 for the two of us it came out to $24.00 bucks when we had lunch there on new years day. The burger was over cooked and burned. We don't know what happened weather it is new management or workers its hard to tell these days. It took a while for the waitress to get our order which was really annoying sorry the good old days are gone.

I remember when it was terrific – The Purity used to be terrific - now it just looks a lot nicer- the food was better , the prices were better, the service was better-- sorry I'd pass, unless you have a diner emergency...

this diner is not what it was – This diner is not what it used to be. The service got worse, slow and rude. I order a burger and fries and the fries came later then the burger. They dont keep the place clean there is garbage all over the place food and papers all over the floor. The kitchen always smells.

"It's a piece of the machine!" – This place is perfect if you like bad management, unfriendly atmosphere and a gnat in your waffle. Lesson for any future restaurant owners: when a customer finds an insect in his breakfast and the waitress brings it to you to discuss, the LAST thing you should do is bring it back to the table, show it to the customer and try to convince him it is a piece of the machine.

Bad Service & Lighting – We recenty went there to check out the renovations. After being seated waaaay in the back, we were ignored by the 2 waitresses. They just walked past us.

They did look over and gesture towards us few times but neither came over. They preferred to chat with other diners up front. Amazing.

We left after 15 minutes of this. I told the manager on the way out and he didn't seem to care. He mumbled something and avoided looking at me. Not so subtle bigotry going on there. Can't rate the food because we didn't get served.

The new lighting is horrible. DO NOT bring a date there.

Sour Management – Last time I went to Purity I ordered a chicken sandwhich and a side of fries. The fries came 15 minutes after my chicken so I complained to the manager who just looked at me and said "it comes when it comes". The food wasn't too good either.

Friendly, casual, delicious – The Purity Diner is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. A varied menu, friendly (but not intrusive) staff, and the opportunity to sit and people watch are just a few of the things that keep me coming back to this lovely little corner of Park Slope. Whether I'm coming in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I've never had a bad time at Purity.

Good food – Sorry to hear of the above review. I've eaten there many a time, to satisfaction. Miss its original location on Union.

Get in, get out – In all fairness to Purity Diner, I've only been there once, but that was enough for me. Just to have something as simple as pancakes and coffee on a Saturday morning was an ordeal in this overstuffed corner diner. They seemed more concerned with packing people in than serving them. And I'm from Jersey, the motherland of diners, so I know busy from chaotic.

Maybe I got them on a bad day, I don't know, but the service, the food, the sardine-can atmosphere just made the whole experience unpleasant. (Which reminds me -- the place seemed popular with the stroller set -- the necessarily indulgent Park Slope attitude toward screaming kids is in full effect here.)
