A much better experience – After a few months I returned to Don Pablos. It appears they are doing better than they were some months ago. The people are smiling and very friendly. I had the fajitas and ribs and it was delicious.
Worst Dining Experience – Having been familiar with the Don Pablo's chain from the midwest, I can't tell you how disappointed I was in this location. The food, simply put, was terrible. The cheese dip resembled plastic (and tasted disgusting). Our meals were about the same quality and we barely ate them. The server was less than friendly. The restaurant was pretty empty, and I can understand why. It was the worst dining experience I've had in probably 10 years, I would never go back.
BAD SERVICE. BAD MANAGEMENT. I was having dinner with my younger brother and he refused to go from his previous experience. I didnt think it was THAT bad and convinced him to go. (I love mexican food!!) I'm not a tempermental person and have a reasonable amount of patience... But... They took 20 minutes to take our order (giving us 3 rounds of chips and salsa.... The food took 45 minutes. Right before the food came out, the young host came by and asked if the server "Lewy" took our order. (so, my guess is that it's a common complaint)
If you are looking for Authentic Real Mexican Food. I would suggest "Pachanga's" on Route 40. The waitress are more experienced and friendly
Margaritas and affordable Mexican fare in a campy, family-friendly atmosphere. – In Short
Bright colors and big booths make this quick-service, sit-down Mexican restaurant a cheery choice for group outings. The traditional menu--including classic enchiladas, soft and crispy tacos, mesquite-grilled shrimp, sizzling fajita platters and made-from-scratch salsas--features lunch specials, create-your-own combinations and to-go options for more fast-paced patrons. Tequila makes its appearance in house margaritas and cocktails. Bringing the little ones? They're catered to with a kid-friendly, Tex-Mex menu.
Big, noisy, and corporately owned---American version of Mex. food – Good restaurant, very "Applebees-ish" as far as the authenticity goes. Don Pablos has one very big dining room with high ceilings, usually very crowded (booths only around the perimeter) and noisy. Bar area is nice, gets crowded around happy hour because they have some really nice specials. Chile Releno is not the best, and the food overall is average. If you like Chevy's, you will like the style, but the food, and even the sides, don't match up with the food you get at Chevy's. Priced a little too high for average Mexican food. Parking is difficult during peak dining hours because it is right next to Famous Daves and Macaroni Grill in a very hectic shopping area.
