Best Red Hot Anywhere! – Someone below wrote 47 years at Jimmy's. I may have that beat. I can't remember what year Jimmy's in the '50's was built but I was there when it was and before that. I lived a block and half south on Pulaski as 1231. The dogs have always been great, the fries super greasy and just as great. That's where we went for a dog. There's nothing anyway ever that can beat a Jimmy's dog. The neighborhood and that corner are really scary these days. The dogs still taste the same, the fries still greasy, the service .. well Jimmy isn't there anymore. Everything but the pepper!

I can still smell them! – I live in Minnesota- but any time the family and I would go to Chicago to visit Grandma we would stop at Jimmy's. The greasy fries wrapped around one of the best hot dogs I have ever had. Their Supreme tamales to top it off- nothing better. It's been several years since I've been back to the city- but Jimmy's will always be on the list of places to stop while I'm their. It's the Chicago of my youth... on a bun. No mustard!

Go Jimmys on those dogs, with no ketchup... – I've been eating Jimmy's for nearly 20 years and I love it! ALthough in the last few years their are more panhandlers outside, all in all, Jimmy's is bar far original with thier Chicago Style and Fries....Love them fries. Highly recommend, a bit of a dive but the best fast foods.

No Comparison – i have tried hundreds of hotdogs in chicago and i can honestly say that jimmy's is the best in chicago. the hot dogs and polish sausages are perfectly boiled/steamed in porcelain containers at the right temperature, and the buns are steamed just right as to not be too soggy. the combination of the bun, vienna beef dog create the perfect hotdog. when you bite into it you get the snap of the hot dog which releases the wonderful flavors each and every bite. jimmy's does it right...all the time.

Right up there with Gene's & Jude's – When I moved back into the city after many years in the Western suburbs, I was all set to make at least monthly treks to Gene's & Jude's, THE premier hot dog stand of all suburban hot dog stands. A friend took me to Jimmy's one day and waddayaknow!!! The snappy weinies, the soggy buns...the greasy fries...the don't even dare ask for ketchup on your dog...it was all the same! While I would never abandon G&J's completely, it is a comfort to know that I can get the same great taste just 15 minutes away!

The Best - period! – 45+ years of eating these, my wife can smell the scent in the car the next morning "You went to Jimmy's!" Taste is out of this world, real Vienna Beef dogs and polish, Supreme Tamales are also great. It's worth the 40 mile drive for us to go there. Proud to say my son is a 4th-generation Jimmy's customer! Don't be worried about security, there are Chicago cops in the place eating almost every minute the place is open, and anyone who REALLY knows Chicago knows that Chicago cops NEVER eat in bad restaurants, even if the food is free!

Far westside favorite serves up cheap hot dogs in modest surroundings. – In Short
There's not much more than a cement floor and two lines to order your meal at this place, but that doesn't stop the all-ages crowd from lining up at this dog shack. The menu is short and sweet--Vienna Beef hot dogs, Vienna Beef Polish sausages and tamales. Both the dogs and Polish are nestled in a steaming bun, then topped with mustard, relish and onions, then wrapped with a huge handful of fat fries.

Best Hot Dogs Ever – Jimmy's has simply the best hot dogs we've ever tasted. Even though we live in the western suburbs of the Chicago metropolitan area, in Du Page county, we regularly make the one-hour long drive to the city to have hot dogs at Jimmy's.

I think the Viena beef hot dogs and Polish sausages are that good because the way they are steamed in ceramic containers. Jimmy's fries are delicious and plentiful.

While the area around Jimmy's is not great anymore, we've never had any problems eating inside or in the car. Definitely worth it.
