Worst Hibachi Ever – This was the worst food I ever ate from a Japanese restaurant. I got sick and I am still throwing up from last night's food. It had no taste, the service is awful and I will never ever recommend this to anyone.
Great place for dinner – My girlfriends and I have hibachi dinner at Happy Sumo at least once a month. The food is great, service is sufficient, and the atmosphere is wonderful for hanging out.
Unhappy Sumo – The food at this place is just not satisfactory. We left feeling very unhappy.
- Sushi rolls all tasted the same...mushy w/ stuff in between.
- Chef didn't have any skills
- Miso soup was water w/ a few sliced mushrooms (it's hard to mess miso up)
- Hibachi was average at best...could have made it better at home
We live right down the road and wouldn't come back to this place.
Great food; ok service – Great food. Service was just average. Waitress paid us little attention, but food made up for it. We ordered sushi at the bar. Don't know about the hibachi.
Good place for a double date – We met up with friends who frequent Happy Sumo every couple of months on a Saturday night. The parking lot was full when we pulled in, so we parked in the shopping center parking lot. We walked in and were greeted promptly. The place was so jammed packed, our friend accidently spilled beer on another customer's sleeve as we waited for a spot at the bar for the hibachi table. We didn't wait long. The hosts and hostesses were very friendly, but I can't say the same about our server. She was rude, rushed and uninterested from the get-go. We all wondered if we had done something wrong or out of order to instigate the horrible attitude she greeted us with. Fortunately, the hibachi chef was entertaining and humorous enough to take our minds off of her service. It seemed like everyone enjoyed the hibachi. I ordered the edamame, seaweed salad, and a few vegetarian maki and nigiri rolls. Everything was good. The miso soup was good, the salad with ginger dressing was good. I have no complaints about the food. My green tea was kept filled. All-in-all, it was a good dining experience apart from the server albeit she kept our food coming. We'll come back to this place, but only with our friends.
The best japanese steaks, seafood, and sushi – This is a must try restaurant. They have the best food and drinks. I even had my rehearsal dinner here and they accomodated all 35 people. I highly recommend the sushi bar.
No Flavor, Boring entertainment and slow service....DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY – Promoted as a family Japanesse style restaurant, this place was so boring. The kinsu Chef's offered nothing and the food was as bland as there personality. The soup was flavored water and the salad dressing was weak. We felt ripped off when we left. We ordered a rather expensive selection to split and they charged us an additional $6 for an extra soup/salad. We ordered Sushi, it arrived toward the end of our meal. The one cocktail we ordered had a hint of alcohol in it. They charged an additional $1.75 each for kids drinks.
The FOOD was so bland, NO taste what's so ever and the portions were so small. I have to say, I will take my $65 and go to the Waffle House around the corner. It would have better atmosphere and if the food is bad, I can cover it in syrup.
The worst food ever. Mcdonalds has better food. – We went to this thinking it has the hibachi kinda exprience. From the get go the manager was very unpleasent and the lady who took the order was very pushy and hurried us all. The dinner here costs on aveage 17 dollars which ostensibly comes with a soup, salad and dessert including the dinner itself. The soup was the nastiest i ever tase it was chicken broth with too much salt then the salad was the only good part there then dinner itself has nothing but soy sauce, salt ,pepper and butter in all the ingeredients which i presumed i could do by myself in the house. MY POINT I WOULDNT GO BACK IF I WAS OFFERED FREE FOOD FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE.
We didn't leave very "happy" – This is my first ever bad experience with sushi. We ordered the sumo roll, spider roll, and salmon roll, and everything was just terrible. Extremely bland.
The service wasn't very good either. They brought the wrong roll out and we got the wrong bill.
Maybe the hibachi experience is better, but I do not recommend the sushi.
