What Our Expert Scouts Say

Las Tablas

Colombian flavors unlike anything else I've sampled in the city. Don't let the blah facade fool you: the dishes are anything but bland. Ask the servers to guide you and go for the spicy stuff!

Gett'n ill. Best part was B.Y.O.B..

Way over priced, bland, and so so service. We ordered 2 recommended dinners and neither was very special. My date and I ended up feeling ill the entire next day. We asked for our steaks medium and they came out like jerky. The inside door kept being left open and it was extremely drafty. I will not go back.

Good Luck.

rules rules rules rules. we went on a monday night, so we were seated right away and had attentive service. i got the steak/shrimp combo and devoured it. DELICIOUS. comparatively affordable to other steak restaurants (my dish was $19), and BYOB doesn't hurt either.

and the byob makes the meal nice yet affordable.

Great value, BYOB. Meat is very good for the price and well seasoned. BYOB makes more an extra good value. The potatos and fried cassava are also fantastic. Nice service too. Great for a casual but fun night out.

Casual steak place, good for friends or guests. Picnic style seating provides casual atmosphere for enjoyable dining experience. Foods are good. Need to bring you own drinks. Go a little South down Lincoln for a convenience store. Of course, you need to eat meat - otherwise, this might not be for you.

Questionable as a steak House, but enjoyable. For a place that calls itself a Columbian steakhouse, the steak dishes were actually very poor. The Churrasco (supposedly the house specialty) tasted and had the texture of a low grade breakfast steak. It is supposedly a NY strip steak that is butter-flied, but comes off as thin (1/4 inch thick?) and fatty, and has a peculiar bad meat taste. On the plus side though, the shrimp was incredible; the size, marinade, and grilled taste made these perhaps the best shrimp I have ever tasted. The chicken was also quite good, with a great marinade and grilled flavor. Our server was pleasant and accommodating when we sent our 1st steak back because it was well done (we ordered it medium rare). The prices were high; Churrasco was $17 and the chicken and shrimp combo was $18. I would go back here but definitely not for the steak dishes.

Authentic, Affordable. One of the best restaurants for the dollar in Chicago, especially since it is BYOB. My girlfriend, who is from Colombia, swears it is the most authentic in Chicago. Go here for a $40 meal for two and that will include 2 appetizers, steak, another entree, and dessert. I highly recommend it for any type of date/event/whatever. Great food, that isn't served by a waiter with their nose stuck in the air.

Adventurous diners gather for authentic Colombian fare at this Lakeview favorite.. In Short
An expanded dining room provides table seating for 30, but the original space offers a more charming, faux Spanish garden atmosphere with picnic-bench tables, scuffed green-and-white walls, shuttered windows, plastic palm trees and red roof tiles over the door. Seafood and steak dominate the menu, from flavorful paella a la marinara with squid, octopus, clams, scallops and shrimp to plump chicken breast and sweetly char-grilled New York strip served on a wooden tabla.

Outstanding!. The food here is unbelievable. Perfectly seasoned and grilled and served with a delicious chimichurri sauce. The room is bright and inviting, and the service is always friendly. But go for the food. You will not be disappointed!
