This cozy, candle-scented store carries a lot more than paper. – The Scene
Even the frequent rumblings of Brown Line trains can't disrupt the warmth of this small shop. Both dog- and kid-friendly, it understandably draws neighborhood yuppies, although the manager readily admits that the intimate store "starts getting crowded with two strollers in here." When that happens, he sometimes sends people to nearby Paper Boy, a larger, more upscale version of Fly Paper that's also owned by Ted Frankel.
Prettily packaged notes and greeting cards, photo albums, journals, posters, gift wrap, ribbon, soap, hand lotion, magnets, incense, candles and toys spill out of dark wooden drawers, rest in racks or sit on shelves that line maroon-colored walls. Frankel also owns novelty store Uncle Fun, which explains the big selection of Pez dispensers, wind-up toys, rubber snakes and other wacky items for little kids and big.
