For a mere $20, you can spend three hours here, luxuriating in a quiet room or soaking away your cares in a bubbly hot tub. There's also a dry sauna and a eucalyptus steam bath -- perfect for banishing burgeoning colds before they take hold in your sinuses. Massages are affordable, too.
I adore this place!! – I have been going to Thousand Waves for about 5-6 years now. I used to go to a few other places on occasion, but now I am true to what I think is THE best place to relax and get a massage.
Simple and easygoing, this women's spa on Belmont has a low-intimidation factor. – The Scene
Check pretenses at the door; this is not a haughty modern spa. No made-up receptionists tower over you in designer shoes, and there's no intimidating list of exotic treatments. Simplicity reigns at this Japanese-style spa for women. It's clean, comfortable and modest, with homey touches and welcoming employees who set the tone for relaxation. A robe and towels are provided when you check in; lockers are available for storing your belongings.
The menu of services is brief: massage and herbal body wraps. Skilled massage therapists focus on over-stressed areas and strive for full-body relaxation. Old wood floors creak underfoot, but distraction and tension are kneaded away by deft hands. Herbal wraps begin with pre-treatment warm-up in the steam room or Jacuzzi. Afterward, you're wrapped in fragrant sheets steamed in an herbal bath. After your treatment, enjoy a hot cup of tea and lounge (or nap) in the relaxation room. It's a perfect way to prolong the sense of ease before heading back out into the world.
Never Again – I was treated rudely the moment I walked in and thought maybe they were having a bad day so I went for my massage which was very very poor. My husband did a better job. When they asked how everything went on my way out I said I was not satisfied and the receptionist, well thats too bad, that will be $80 please. I will never go there again.
Nice Spa.. But don't go on a Saturday! – I made the mistake of getting a massage on Saturday afternoon. The staff was great - very friendly and welcoming, but the other patrons were RUDE!! I was unable to use any of the amenities such as the whirlpool or the sauna because a few groups of 45-ish women were monopolizing the whole area. When it was time for my massage all I could hear was slamming lockers and people standing outside the door talking. I'll go back, but on a weeknight.
AAH... YES – Leave your cares and concerns outside. This oasis
in Chicago- transports you to the stressfree land of relaxation and tranquillity. All the senses are
appeased - music, blended with the gentle sounds of nature, aromatherapy, eucalyptus steam baths..
Then on to a soul satisifying, tension releving massage / body wrap. What a way to spend the
Waves Saves – I really have to say this was an awesome experience and the pricing was an exceptional value for the service!
Relaxing – Nice atmosphere. Good treatments. Staff was very good. Would pass on the herbal wrap, but the massage was very good and wonderfully soothing. Would be nice if there was no extra charge for water given the price of the treatments.
Heaven! – This was a wonderful spa, and I felt like I really got my money's worth. The added bonus of getting to soak in the hot tub and go in the sauna and steam room before your massage really turned the experience into a wonderful relaxing afternoon. After your massage you can relax in their relaxation room and sip on complimentary tea. Thousand waves really does a nice job of going the extra mile! And the massage itself was amazing too. I would highly reccomend this place!
a unique experience – This is one of the most relaxing, welcoming spas I've ever been to. The Japanese-style atmosphere is very warm and cozy. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. There's no better way to relax after a long day than with a massage and steam - or even one of their awesome herbal wraps. Sorry guys - it's just for women. It would make a great gift though...
Highly recommended – This place is great for first timers....very relaxing, very peaceful environment.
