this restaurant deserves a 10 star rating – I've never been to New Orleans before. I've never had crab cakes before. I LOVED THEM BOTH!!
Now I'm scanning the internet to try to find a recipe for Oceana Grill Crab Cakes and Cracker Barrel Biscuits.
If I ever visit New Orleans again this restaurant will be the first place I visit.
great food – hardcoremofo. get over it. did you look at the rest of bourbon street? it is filthy. im sure the entire quarter is filled with rodents. even before katrina. if you don't want to see them, then don't go to the swamp. stay where stuff like that never happens. or at least where you just think it doesn't happen. i have eaten there twice and the red fish was great both times. everything looked sanitary to me. at least compared to the rest of bourbon street and im a clean freak.
DO NOT EAT HERE, til they get it straight – I went here with my family on Nov. 26, 2008 and this is a letter I wrote to manament:
"My wife, my 2 children and myself ate at your restaurant on Nov.26, 2008 at around 7pm. We went up to the second floor, sat down, ordered our food and proceeded to eat. Near the end of eating our meal we ordered dessert and my 11 y.o daughter said she saw a rodent running along the wall. We thought she was just seeing things. Well, she wasn't because 3 more rodents came under the table next to ours and proceeded to bump into my wife's coat. She got up and rushed downstairs, disgusted, nauseated because where we are from, things like this doesn't happen- EVER. Our waiter was a 40ish whiteman and their was a black man helping him out. The white waiter had the nerve to tell me that because of all the flooding from Katrina ALL THE RESTAURANTS has a infestation problem. By that time my credit card had been charged. The food was great while we were eating it but 3 of us lost our stomach near the curb so there went our food. Rodents are one of the most filthiest creatures and they have to be in your kitchen too. Look, I 'blew' $70. in your restaurant and i'd like my card to be credited back. That's it. Nothing more because we feel that no one should be expected to pay for those conditions. Please foreward to management and I look forward to a reply. Thank you".
The food was good but this episode just ruined the experience and all I wanted was my money back, nothing else. Now we have to play hardball and i'm really good at this game. I'm not one to slander any establishment(if it wasn't true) but to legally protect myself I'll have to pull the big guns out.
One of the Best Restaurants in the Bourbon Street Area – This is my favorite restaurant in NOLA. We stumbled upon it one day while looking for a place to eat and "something" lured me into this place. Food is delicious. Their BBQ Shrimp is spicy and buttery. Even their red beans 'n' rice is really good. The Mardi Gras Seafood Pasta was delicious; however, the price was not marked on the Specials board; when I saw the charge of $28 on the bill, I was not happy. (So do inquire about the prices of their specials.) Their bread pudding with bourbon sauce is one of the best you'll find in NOLA. It is HEAVEN on earth, so please leave room for it. The atmosphere is roomy and casual and the servers are attentive. Even the manager helps serve the tables as needed.
Best Seafood this side of Mars – On a trip to NOLA with the Mission of Mercy group that held the medical/dental gathering at the zoo after Katrina, we were looking for a good place to eat. Well there are so many to choose from, but we asked some police that were on the streets in the French Quarter and they sent us to Oceana. What a treat. The staff made us feel like family. Whatever we thought of even though it was not on the menu they would prepare. The BarBQ Shrimp was the star of the night. Even though we are from Va., we have tried to duplicate this recipe, but it doesn't quite make it! We knew we were in the right place when on a weeknight, while some places were not opened back up, there were a lot of people there and State Troopers, everyone made us feel welcome. We were even able to tell some of the employees and guest of the free clinic at the zoo. It was good because some of their Dr's had not returned and they needed medical help. THANKS NOLA, THANKS OCEANA.............we shall return!
Best Cajun and Creole in new orleans – My friend and I go down to New Orleans twice a year. For the last three years we have tried all the famous restaurants in the city, until we were lucky to visit Oceana Grill. Best BBQ shrimp the Louisiana and best crab cakes on earth !!!!!!!!!!!!!
It?s couple of steps off bourbon, blue paintings, make you feel like you?re in the bottom of the ocean. Supper friendly staff. We went there for lunch and dinner and I enjoyed dinner more because the mood was right.
I had a stuffed tuna with crabmeat and topper with some kind of cream sauce ooooooooooh my god, and my friend had the mardi gras pasta she said it was the best.
Highly recommend Tina, she was our waitress. We?ll defiantly be back.
Best meal in New Orleans – Recommended by a man on Bourbon Street as THE place to eat, my friend and I were not disappointed. The appetizers were well prepared and delicious. My friend had a seafood pasta dish that he really enjoyed and I had the Tuna stuffed with crabmeat and topped with crawfish sauce and ohhhhhhhhh my gawd was it wonderful!!! The Chef visited our table while we were there and made sure everything was great, he was very personable and made you feel at home.The service was very good considering the constant turn, I have been in the business for alot of years and haven't seen very many servers that could have done as well and still never seemed stressed when they came to the table.All in all, during our visit we had eaten at much more expensive and well known restaurants but none were as good as Oceana. If you go to New Orleans and want a truly memorable meal go here and enjoy!!!!
great food, great service, great value – My dad and I were looking to eat near Bourbon street and saw this little place half a block down on Conti. We liked the restaurant atmosphere, our waiter was great and the food was fabulous. We ate at Acme oyster house earlier that day and were kind of disappointed with their new orleans sampler. Here we got to taste what a really great jambalaya should taste like! The entrees we ordered, especially the mahi mahi , but also ahi tuna were fabulous. On top of that the portions were humongous. You can't go wrong with this place.
