Nate Heman – This is a message for Nate Herman. I am your cousin, several times removed. Please contact me and we can discuss throwing dolls off a third floor window, eons ago.
Great Sunday Night – This past weekend we saw the 8pm Sunday night show at IO. It was well worth the small price tag. The three improv groups were all very funny, especially Deep Schwa who closed the show. They offer a lot of different beers and cabaret style made it even more entertaining. I would recommend this for a low key night out if you're in the mood to laugh.
Good Night Out – This place made for an interesting night out. In addition the staff was extra friendly and pretty funny. Great place to kick back on a date with you girlfriend or wife, however, it is just shy of being a first or second date kind of place.
Great, but be careful on the "bait and switch" with ticket prices – Can be told that they are showing a Free performance (given title and everything) and when you get to the theatre you are charged....What the?!?! My advice CALL AHEAD! Some GREAT shows and GREAT performers at the I.O., but the surprise of paying for a show you weren't planning to pay for can put you in a bad mood and ruin the experience (I feel bad for the performers who have to work hard to change your mood from one of being "angry" to "happy and entertained"). Once you get past the possible "bait and switch" with prices, enjoy the show!
The rowdy cousin of Second City is pure improvisation, with mostly hilarious results. – In Short
ImprovOlympic shines with professional productions in its slick, 99-seat upstairs theater. The raised stadium-like seating allows no obstructions to distract the clean-cut, respectful theatergoers who attend. There's live comedy every night of the week either upstairs or downstairs in the wide, lower-rent cabaret theater, complete with bar and waiters. Del Close and Charna Halpern founded ImprovOlympic in 1981 after a split with Second City.
Good time! – Went there on Valentines for something fun to do and will definetly be back. There is not much you can do in this town for $12 and have such a great time. Lots of fun and would recommend.
Laughs and a great time – This comedy club was a great experience. The atmosphere was cozy so you where right there with the comedians who where hilarious. It is amayzing to think that they make up such funny stuff right on the spot. The show i saw was even interactive. Overall it was a great time and i would recomend it to anyone in the chicago area, or who is visiting(like i was).
Lots of fun – A group of us went to see the show recently and we all really enjoyed it. The performance was witty and made us laugh the whole way through. The service was good and friendly. I highly recommend this place either as your evening destination or the first stop on a night out.
Hit or Miss – ImprovOlympic has some great shows with seasoned professionals. These people are the best improvisors in the nation, which makes a visit worthwhile...when you catch these teams. When you are stuck watching a beginner team, the night can be a painful one and you might find yourself wishing you were anywhere but where you are.
