Best Thai Food in Town – The food is excellent and it's really cheap! The pad prig talay and the tom kha gai are so good! It's hard to find a good meal under 10 dollars now and Bhan Thai definitely delivers. The owner is also very friendly. I can't wait to go back!
Fresh & Great Tasting---Very Affordable – It is not fair that this location is getting bad reviews because of the Centennial restaraunt. Academy is no longer affiliated with the Centennial restaraunt--maybe that is why...
The one on Academy is wonderful! The food is always fresh--even the seafood. Try the Tom Kha Gai soup. It may be the most exotic and flavorful soup you've ever had. My family has been eating here since the day they opened. Don't miss it!
Best Top Notch Cuisine, at an Affordable Price. – I have visited the Academy & Galley location. They are very polite . The food has great seasoning. It doesn't matter what you order everything tastes so good. I will definately recomend this place to everyone. I promise you won't leave dissapointed. Great food, Big Portions, Low Price. You can't go wrong.
Academy: Good - Centennial: Bad – Academy: 3 Stars – Centennial – 0 Stars
My first experience was at the Academy location where the food and service were good. Then I went to the Centennial location for lunch. When I asked the girl about a certain fish dish she said, "Oh, that ones disgusting, I wouldn't even try that." HUH? Well at least she was honest. I went with another dish which I did not like. A few days later I thought it must have been what I ordered because two restaurants with the same owner couldn't be that different could they? So I returned to try a new dish. Unfortunately it was just as bad. I am baffled. How can one location be so good and one soooo bad?? I will never return to the Centennial location but if I am in the area will try Academy again.
Centenniel Location - bland – I've tried the Centennial location several times, and the food is somewhat bland. The green curry was disappointing, as the spiciness leaned towards a black pepper taste instead of a curry-spice. The meat in the dishes was sparse as well. Chicken sate was decent, though.
STAY AWAY FROM THE CENT. LOC – I LOVE THE ACADEMY LOCATION & HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD FOOD EXPERIENCE. THE CENTENNIEL LOCATION'S STAFF IS VERY RUDE AND I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT WAS THE SAME OWNERS. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TREATED WELL AT BT.
not terrible – We stopped by this restaurant last night and were pretty happy with the variety of the menu and happy to have some great thai iced tea. Our appetizer of shui mai dumplings came out and my husband said his was cold and my first bite actually still had ice crystals. When our entrees came out we sent the dumplings back and were apologized to. My chicken satay was very tasty and hot but i thought my husbands seafood curry ( it has a rather long complcated name that i cant remember) had a lot of very salty fish sauce, but he didn't seem to mind. Our second try with the shu mai left us not leaving a tip because once again they were nearly half frozen. Its not too bad a restaurant but we are looking to try other places in town and it may be quite some time before we try again here.
Food is fine, but service at Centennial location ruins it – While we have gone to the Bhan Thai on Academy for years and enjoyed it, we recently tried the new location on Centennial and because of our experience there we are done with BT. From the moment we walked in the manager was rude and abusive, and after we ate he was insulting and abusive not only to my wife and me but also to our two young children. When I asked him for a comment card, he told me it wouldn't matter since the restaurant is owned by his aunt and sister.
He was right as it turns out. I sent an e-mail to the address on the comment card and never heard anything from the ownership.
In short: the decent food is not worth the abuse.
High End Fast Food – Bhan Thai's curry has won me over. This is the only restaurant I've ever eaten Thai food at and I really enjoyed it. I like that they serve the food on real plates. But, it can be kind of confusing because its self serve drinks and order, but someone brings your food out, so its hard to know if you need to leave a tip. Last time I went there they weren't quite ready when the place opened and the chairs were still on the tables and the tables weren't cleaned off properly. However, the food came out excellent and I soon forgot about the lack luster welcome. The price is reasonable too.
