Be careful when eating there! – I've had dinner there a couple of times which it was good, I actually really liked their california rolls.
But last Saturday, I ate a California roll and a shrimp tempura roll, right after I started not feeling well. A couple of hours later I got really sick and it went on for the whole night! Now, I have been pregnant and even then I didn't feel that sick, it was horrible. My husband ate a couple of the shrimp tempura rolls as well and he started feeling sick around 4 am.
He had pains in his stomach all day Sunday and until late Tuesday he was still not well. I had nothing left in me by Sunday night. Even water would make me get sick. This was the worse $14 dollares I ever spent. I'll never go back there. Also the restaurant was not busy for Saturday night...Be careful when eating there.
Going down !!! – No futomaki, no oshizushi, expensive bill ....... something is changed :-(
Solid Valley Sushi Restaurant – Friends were coming in from out of town and driving to SLO-- my job: find a good sushi restaurant that wasn't too expensive and near the 101/405. OMG the VALLEY! I live on the westside and know lots of sushi places here, but the Valley? With the help of a valley friend and CitySearch reviews, I decided on "Taka Sushi" I was a little nervous because it was sight unseen, but trusted not only my friends but the reviews.
I was pleasantly surprised!
So many things were ordered-- salmon sushi (everyone's favorite), halibut, tuna, shrimp, scallop, blue crab roll, lobster roll, spicy tuna roll, other ones that I can't remember....
And everything was GOOD!!!!! The one thing that was different was each sushi piece was almost cut in half, making it even easier to share among friends. Portions seems generous and fish was fresh. While I didn't drink the sake, my friends did and liked it. Service was GREAT!! (we closed down the place @ 10pm on a Saturday night) Other misc.: women's restroom clean, parking in the back, location ideal --right off the 101.
here's the REAL test: WOULD I GO BACK.?
Yes! While I wouldn't make a special trip from the westside just for Taka sushi, it is nice to know that the place exists and fits the bill of good sushi that doesn't break the bank.
Best sushi in LA or anywhere for that matter! – Takason (Taka) is definitely the master sushi chef!! The quality of the fish is excellent, the portions are the biggest anywhere and the service is great! Order anything and you'll be happy, from fresh live Sweet Shrimp Friday's and Saturdays, best Uni and Yellowtail, to the most fantastic Spicy Salmon Skin Handroll... you'll keep going back. And it's always service with a smile! I've been to all the top places in LA and still find House of Taka to be the abolute best and my favorite... bring on the critics and Zagat!!!
Sit at Sushi Bar and meet Taka – This is the Grandmaster of sushi...sit at house of taka for the best sushi in town in the valley. Not the most expensive or the fanciest but talk about big portions and fresh...this is your spot. make sure to try the seviche along with yellowtail belly. his best dishes are his rolls which there are so many its hard to choose. the service is the best super friendly and very quick to take care of you.had this reasturaunt been on ventura or in hollywood it would be world renoun...I do see stars in there quite often! great prices.great food and great service. you cant go wrong at the house of taka.
Great sushi! – Extremely good- delicious, very big portions, reasonable prices. The service is better than you would expect in such a crowded restaurant. The sushi bar has a $12 per person minimum. One of the best sushi places in LA.
BIG FISH! – Taka serves the most generous portions of FRESH and HIGH QUALITY sushi I've found EVER. It's a great value for the quality of fish you're getting. Definitely one of the least known but best sushi joints in the Sherman Oaks/Ventura area. The ambience has little to offer...but hey, it's all about the food, right?
