We have visited and ate at Wild Ginger a few times. First just myself and the husband for lunch. Then a group of 7 for a friends birthday dinner. And more recently two couples plus their infant child. This recent trip was definitely more memorable for the wrong reasons. We arrived and the front desk manager was more than nice enough to hold the door open especially since our brother in law had the baby in her baby seat as we walked in. We ordered. The food came out on time. The quality was good. We ordered salmon, walnut chicken, pan pan noodles with shrimp and a veggy platter. At the conclusion our server brought out the check. At this point the baby was anxious to leave and both parents were trying to get her dressed and ready for the cold weather outside. After paying our portion of the check, the server came back and rather rudely made a scene asking if we meant to leave a tip that was under the recommended 10%. I was floored by her change in demeanor and hassling customers that were obviously already preoccupied with a small child. Although it was an error which we promptly corrected, the embarrassing scene she caused left us flabbergasted. In fact, the same friendly manager that helped us on our way in didn't bother to do the same as we left and even as I did say goodnight and thank you didn't bother to respond. This was the first time we brought my sister in law and her husband and we were so offended and shocked by the rude and bold faced comments by the server and management that we will never go back again. Or recommend this place. Fact is there was a mistake but the way it was handled was beyond rude. I've settled bills for $900+ at much fancier places and never had to deal with such a situation. Nowhere is there a sign posted about tip. If these people are so run down for business, and their staff is starving for every penny that they would put people on the spot, then they rally should evaluate how they pay their people. Horrible experience. They are not getting another penny from us.
Not Thrilled.... – They just opened a location at 3rd Ave. and 51st Street, had the Vitenamese Summer Roll and Cold Noodles in Seasme Sauce, both were not up to pare compared to other Thai restaruants.
The Summer Roll was filled with rice noodles, little mango and very little avacodo, would of been better if filled with veggies.... The Noodles in Seasme Sauce was "blah", hardly ANY SAUCE AT ALL, and at the bottom of the noodles was oil.... just a pool of oil, i sort of gagged.
A friend had the Ginger Glaze Sauce and Shrimp, he did not care for it at all, will not be going back.
Definately don't order sushi here... – We chose to start with some appetizers, and ordered a roll that said it was crabmeat and salmon. I guess I didn't expect to see imitation crabmeat. When I asked the waiter he responded quite certainly that that was indeed crab. I send it back and ordered the lobster roll which consisted of two small pieces of lobster and the rest of the roll had again imitation crab. I have been eating sushi for a while now and love to eat crab. This restaurant is insulting and fooling the public with selling pretend sushi. It was very disappointing, and I will never eat there again or recommend the place. Eventually people catch on to places that show no respect for their patrons and serve other foods disguised as something else. SHAMEFUL!!!!!
