OK for overpriced beer and a game, but avoid the food – This restaurant has really declined since opening. We used to love their hamburgers. We ate there every time we went to the mall. That's why we were willing to give it 3 more tries in the last year, hoping that it was just an off night. Each time we were even more disappointed. Today it was almost empty, but the food took forever. When it finally came, it was ice cold and tasteless. This was our last time to set foot in there.
Much better places are available – My friends and I often go to a lot of different "sports bar" sort of places both in Raleigh and in Durham. The last time we went here, our bartender was so-so, taking forever to get us our drinks, then messed up the whole billing process. Drink prices for liquor seem pretty typical, although pint prices are completely out of this world. $5+ for a pint of is mindblowing to me, esp when it's a domestic and not "premium beer." The food is also so-so, though it is edible, and there's nothing that would stand out to me as being outstanding. Your best bet at Southpoint is to eat somewhere else (ie Firebirds), you can def get a lot more value for money, including at the bar. The TV screens are nice, but, yet again, there are plenty of sports bars that have that and the same selection of games. All-in-all, if I had a choice, i'd either drive to Chapel Hill or Ale House in Brier Creek. You'll get a much better experience and definitely not walk away feeling like you didn't get your money's worth.
Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game. – In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.
IT'S A SPORTS BAR, A LITTLE NOISEY AT TIMES, GREAT PLACE TO WATCH GAMES! – IT'S YOUR TYPICAL SPORTS BAR, WINGS, CHIPS, BURGERS, FRIES. WITH A FEW THINGS THROWN
IN TO MAKE IT JUST A LEVEL ABOVE THAT. MANY SCREEN TV'S TO WATCH THE GAMES ON.
USUALLY 3 TO 4 PLAYING AT A TIME. STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. I JUST WOULDN'T CONSIDER THIS
ROMANTIC. : )
Best French Onion Soup – We love to take our family here. Great for kids. Very loud, not for a date night. The Cobb Salad, Ceasar Salad and French Onion Soup are great.
We love Champps! – Champps at Southpoint Mall is a great restaurant to catch all the UNC and Duke basketball games, just get there early if you really want to guarantee yourself a table! They fill up fast! Usually about 1 hour ahead of game time. They also have a cool fantasy football contest each winter during the NFL season. Sitting in the bar is the best place due to the most tvs being in the bar.
