This is a delightful place to dine.
We had a wonderful meal -a Filet mignon with pesto potatoes, and the Lobster with shrimp over pasta was a treat. Desserts were fantastic especially the gelato-filled pastry with chocolate sauce. The owner is one of most amiable and talented in Boulder.
A dining experience we'd like to forget – Not good. Appetizer and entree were abysmal. The service was even worse... perhaps our worst experience ever. We hate to admit it, but it was bad. Given all the other reviews on this place, it looks like this is the general consensus. Shame, shame.
Go Elsewhere – Small portions are fine when the food is great, the ingredients are fresh, and the taste is impressive. That was not the case here; the portions were small but did not pack much taste, imagination, or flavor. The presentation was not impressive either. Overpriced food.
If you're a party of two, stay away from this place!! – When we first moved to Boulder, Colorado in December 2006, we explored a lot of new restaurants in Boulder and we wanted to share our experience at Trattoria on Pearl Street Mall so that nobody has to suffer through the same nightmare. If you come as a small party (party of two), you can expect a very slow and terrible service. My husband and I got there about 10 minutes before a big party came in, and since then we seemed to be invisible to the waiter. We didn't order any wine so the waiter probably figured out that his tip from us wouldn't be as much as the bigger party, who ordered wine and all kind of food. The waiter was obviously all over the big party and totally ignored us. Their bread came out before ours even though they arrived after us. And we had to 'ask' for our bread!! The service was very slow and every time the waiter came around, he went straight pass us to the bigger party. My husband and I eat out all the time because we appreciate food and good service, and we're big tippers!! However, we only left less than 10% tip at this place even thought the waiter deserved no tip!! If you want great Italian food with much better service (and better food!!), go to Antica Roma a couple blocks down the road. We go there all the time and never set foot in Trattoria again!!
Nice patio – Below average food. Poor service. We were expecting an Italian restaurant, but in reality it is a mix of american/ italian recepies. I will not return. The server was slow to get to our table, even though the restaurant only had 3 tables.
Real Italian!!!Great Bolognese .the best – Absolutly amazing food ,my favorite was the homemade crispy gnocchi and the tiramisu .very impressive wine list, service was attentive and very responsive about our special request, definetly recomended .very busy on the weekends ,RSVP will make your experience better
Faux Restaurant – This place tries to be something its not. With nice dishware and fancy decorations around your food, surprisingly the food is pretty average. The service was just ok, and a simple request to the management proved they were totally unaccomodating. It's fun to sit on a patio on Pearl Street, but there is certainly better, friendly, and less expensive places to do it. Not recommended.
