Nice place – A60 has a really beautiful space. We held an event there recently and were impressed with the staff and the food.
It's quite small, so I wouldn't recommend having more than 100 people up there for a standing room only event. Also good to know that it's divided into two seperate areas.
Trendy Rooftop Haven – I've been to a lot of rooftops recently and sixty thompson has been one of the best. The roof is divided into two sections and it isn't really packed in which is nice. THe people are generally really good-looking and the bar is cool. Drinks are on the expensive side. Overall, a great trendy rooftop place to be. BTW....service was excellent
THIS is luxury – I adore 60 thompson. Despite the fact that it takes connections to get in, if you can make it up there, it's well worth it. The bartenders make delicious drinks as you soak up SoHo. The people who frequent it might be sitting on 8 figure incomes but they're friendly and enjoying the heavenly bar just like you.
Where being with the "private party" nets near 360-degree views and breezy cocktails. – The Scene
There are several ways to access the hotel's rooftop deck with a fantastic view: Book a room at the hotel, wrangle your way onto the in-the-know guest list or look great draped on the arm of an older gentleman. For the privilege, guests enjoy skyline vistas that invite starry-eyed thoughts--whether they be the quiet kind, nestling on posh deck furniture with your sweetie on the secluded side of the deck, or the more decadent, throwing back champagne cocktails with new friends late into the night.
Beyond the picturesque setting, the chance to mix and mingle with others of like-minded social status remains the primary draw. However, well-mixed specialty cocktails make the experience a little more, well, special. The subtly fruity plum sangria, made with Stoli Ohranj, plum sake and fresh juice, and the 60 champagne, with Stoli Razberi, raspberries and Moet, add a splash of class.
Don't Go – My friends and I had a terrible time at A60. The service was really slow and the crowd was not all that. It's not worth the effort it takes to get in, especially if you don't have a membership card - you can't get in without one unless of course you're a model or you know someone. Too bad there wasn't anyone who looked like a model when I was there. There are other outdoor places to go that are much better than this place.
Don't Believe the Height – A60 has a great view of New York, sitting atop the Thompson Hotel. Too bad everything else about it doesn't live up to it. It's bad enough paying for overpriced drinks but its really annoying when they are served in plastic cups. I was there on a Saturday night and the bartender didn't know how to make ANY drinks and the servers walked around as if we should have been honored to have them bring our drinks - which took forever due to the primadonna attitudes and the clueless bartender. Lets not forget that this "exclusive club" allows any fanny-pack wearing tourist staying at the hotel on the terrace while real New Yorkers are left out in the sweltering summer heat. Who needs to pay that kind of money for lousy service and stupid questions about what's fun to do in New York.
partygirl – This bar is amazing and romantic, the views of the city are outstanding. The staff was friendly and my friends and I had a great time. Apparently you need a key to get in, but my friends and I didn't have a problem.
