Southern-inspired sandwiches attract a local lunch crowd, but impressive evening creations make it a good choice for dinner as well. – The Scene
During the day, RTP-types pack in for quick lunches. At night, the restaurant becomes blissfully less crowded, allowing diners to slow down and savor dinner. Inside, the walls double as an art gallery, changing every month or so. The restaurant's decor boasts clean, simple colors and furnishings--but the bar in the back feels like you should be ordering drinks served with little umbrellas.
Lunch consists of fancy sandwiches, burgers and a few hot plates, but the dinner menu changes weekly. You'll find the ultimate comfort dish--Southern fried green tomatoes--as a dinner appetizer or in an inventive lunchtime sandwich. Pasta dishes are lackluster, so try potato-encrusted catfish--the Southern lovechild of a juicy fish fillet and a potato latke; or barbecued beef short ribs, slathered with tangy sauce with sides of creamy and crusted mac and cheese and sweet cole slaw. Desserts are homemade. Tart but sweet lemon bars or ultra-rich chocolate brownie are good choices.
Sloooooooooooow! – I went for lunch on a Friday. The place was maybe 1/4 full...definitely not half full. My burger took 30 minutes. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing outstanding.
