Rad bar, great staff and the owner is awesome.
I really love this bar. Cheap drinks, live music and friendly personable staff, 3 free pool tables, great jukebox, clean bathrooms, what more could you ask for? The evening scene has a lot of bikers and when it gets later and the music starts there's a variety of younger people. The bartender's are cool, young people with good personalities and a sense of humor. The owner, Joe, has got to be one of the nicest people in Portland. I don't know him personally and the other night I saw a great new beer sign that I wanted to try to buy for my BF's Bday. I asked Joe if there was any way he would sell it to me and he said "no, but I'd be willing to gift it." So sweet!
PRO'S: Staff, music, regulars, pool tables, prices
CON'S: none
smelly old ugly bikers. if you like music its a good place to go if you can put a clothes pin over your nose to NOT smell the exhaust fumes from the harleys, they leave the damn door wide open and the people who smoke cigarettes stand about ONE foot in front of the building and smoke and they leave the door open while the smoke, if you dont smoke you dont want to go there because it stinks I should say reaks of smoke
an odd place.
I went for take out food from the BBQ place that shares space with the tavern. I was approached by the young man tending bar and asked what I wanted...I explained I was waiting for a couple of minutes and didn't need anything. The bartender then surreally and abruptly told me that I needed to button my shirt all the way up if I wanted to stay.
I waited outside the bar.
Odd thing is that I'm a man in my late 40's, I'm an exceptionally ok looking individual, my clothing is clean and pressed, I don't even drink...but I had shirttails out and only a couple of buttons secured due to the blistering summer heat.
You wouldn't anticipate a buttoned down atmosphere
given the bikers, old hippies, and regular blue collar folks that patronize the tavern...but apparently haute couture lives in Se Portland at the Queen of Hearts tavern.
I wonder if slacks and a nice blazer would've sufficed.
incidentally... that bartender was the ugliest and dumbest person I have ever encountered.
He should have unbuttoned his shirt and draped it over his head....protecting customers from the eye-watering anguish of viewing his horrid visage.
He is not my newest best friend.
great bar. They just spruced the place up. More room for live music, more room for the pool tables. I love this bar!
Biker Friendly.
I was out for a ride on a Wednesday-night and a local friend showed me this Great place to get a Cold beer and shoot some stick. Friendly owner and friendly customers, big glass windows to keep an eye on your "ride" out front!! Check it out soon..............
