Atlanta Gem – Located on the stepchild half of Ponce, the Fainting Couch is by far one of the coolest stores in Atlanta. The owners are an adorable retired couple who have seen Atlanta at it's best and worst of times. No pulitzer prize winner or poet laureate could adequately describe the unique allure of the antique artifacts available at the store. It's almost like a museum who's exhibits are for sale - and for cheap. Vintage sterling silver tie bars are on sale for $2 and eyeglasses from the 20's for $10. Their store hours change daily, they might be open, the might not. But one thing that is consistent, if you get in, you'll be amazed.

Shady retro shop delivers surprise finds for decent prices. – In Short

Located on a particularly sketchy stretch of Ponce de Leon, The Fainting Couch is an oasis of delightfully kitschy, chic, and retro knick-knacks and brag pieces for those who like to adorn their digs with relics from the olden days. Antique radios, vintage cameras, and old school barware line the walls, while the sharp-eyed may find a bit more under the covers. Twentieth century modern pieces by Thomas Moore beckon the antique lovers, while prop artists from Hollywood and Broadway are known to frequent. While there are numerous splurge-worthy items that would certainly impress friends, many items won’t break the piggy bank, like vintage champagne glasses for $1 each.
