Elen is fantastic....
Elen is fantastic, highly intelligent, and best of all she is the most generous person I met thus far in this entertainment space. If you are at the point of having your son/daughter (I have a son), with an agent, I wouldn't look further. It was quite obvious to me when I met Elen that she genuinely cares about her clients and is willing to go the extra mile for them. I see Elen and her company that is interested in more than the bottom dollar. In New York, that is not only a rarity, but quite refreshing.
Easy Company to Work With – My family has enjoyed some very rewarding times with Elen's Kids.
This type of stuff is not for everyone. However, all I know is that we've had a blast on the great stuff. Maryl is right. The staff is very helpful and very knowledgable.
My son has done work that appears on the Web that is the funniest stuff I've seen. He is so proud of what he has done that it has literally provided him with a surge of confidence. For this I am very thankful to Stefanie.
If you have the time and energy to get your child involved, I would try to join Elen's Kids. New York Agents are very impatient, mean and costly!
Advise to parents: If you don't have the time, energy or are afraid of traveling to New York, don't do it. If parents want to see their child grow and have fun, look no further.
My best to the staff of Elen's Kids
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! – Elen is AWESOME. Elen is one of the most kindest, sincerest and honest person I've every met who clearly cares about her kids that she represents.
I love her.
The company is the kindest, most educational, very patient, and as the previous author said, VERY RESULTS ORIENTED company.
They have always been very helpful and very patient in getting our children assignments.
I usually deal with Catherine, and sometimes Irv, on assignements. Both are VERY VERY patient and VERY clear in what each casting call is about.
I couldn't be happier that we chose to get our child involved with a company that sincerely cares about the welfare and feelings of our child.
I've met many parents of kids with Elen's Kids. They all agree with what I have said.
If you have a chance to meet with Elen or any one of your other associates go for it.
Another happy parent!
Scammer of the worse kid – Elens Kids, Cranford NJ ripped us off........... In March of 2011 I was contacted by Elens Kids to have my twin toddler girls come down for an interview. I spoke with someone about the girls before taking them in. MY girls were Micro Premature babies weighing just over 1 pound at birth. I told them theywere tiny for their age at the time of 23 months. They said they would be perfect for TV and screen for those reasons. On the 26th of March, 2011 my husband and I took the girls to meet with Cherry of Elen's Kids. She and her staff were all smiles when seeing these two littl toddlers only 16 ponds running around. Cherry took us into her office and began by saying the film and Tv industry loves little ones like this because they can be used as younger children but have the ability to be directed because they are older, They are going to be busy little girls. She then bagan to show us al they clients who are working, like Alec balwins son on 30 Rock and the children from ETrade as well as all the families and children that they casted for a Will Smith Film. Needless to say my husband and I were impressed. Iasked her if there were any fees to work with tem, she said not to work with us but there is a 599.00 5 yr photo fee. Every 6 months for 5 yrs the firls will need to have their photos reshot this fees pays for that plus when you go you will need to pay an 18.00 sitting fee. I asked repeatedly this is not a fee for your service, she said NO. Wecpaid thenm the 599.00 and 2 weeks later made an appt to see their supposed best photographer in Dover NJ. He took pictures of both of them which none looked anything like the girls, but he chose what he thought was the bestand sent them off to Elen's Kids, they were posted and I was not happy. One of the girls got a call for Toys R Us clothes but then they pulled it back saying her waist was 1 inch to small. I then demanded that the photos be changed and I submitted photos which looked just like them. I called them several times wondering what was going on since when signing I was asured that they ere in demand. They said there is just no calls for girls their age or size. I clled back again and spke wirth Irv who was very rude telling me the picturwas did the girls no justice what I sent. I said no justice you don't even know what they truly look like . he said send me more photos so I can pick the best. I said no I was a refund of my fee for the photographers 5 yr program. He said NO we do not refund fees, you can go have more phots taken. They knew from our conversation that with having such Premature children come major medical bills and that the entire point of this was to have extra money for them as they get older for any medical problems that come their way but they still told us what we wanted to hear and took our chexck with out blinking and now that they have not followed through on their promise they refuse to refund our fee thatthey claim was not for their service but for the photographer.. Please be sure to use a NY agent if you plan on going this route with your children. NY is not allowed to charge a fee for anything in this industry..Elen's Kids is a Rip Off in the worst way. They TARGET CHILDREN...
Professional and Results Oriented. Thanks! – My children (15 and 16) have been a part of Elen's kids for several months now. We hve received audition and photo submission calls for for Men In Black 3, Dateline NBC, The History Channel... My son was recenly cast for a part in a History Channel series! We're very pleased with Elen's Kids and thanks them for their close, personal attention and professional attention. Great agency!
Absolutely the BEST – Elen's Kids is absolutely the best. Clearly nan37 (she is a man) is as rude and crude as one can be. It is clear why the agency would steer clear of him/her, calling a young girl 300 pounds. He is clearly a pervert.
Elen's Kids is a GREAT family run business. Julie and Tracy have is right. Kids have alot of fun going on calls and meeing other kids.
My experiences with Elen's Kids have all been very positive. I also deal alot with Catherine, who couldn't be more helpful. If, like nan37 the pervert, you are unemployed and looking to make a buck of your child, don't apply. However, if you are a loving parent who also wishes the best for your child, Elen's Kids is for you.
Elen and her staff have been very kind and courteous over the years. I hope they stay clear of parents (if that is truly the case) like nan37 the man.
Total Scam Artist – My wife got scammed by this guy. Went in for an interview. shows you pics of him with actors like alec baldwin and others to make it seem he is in the industry. then shows you a pic of his 300 pound daughter who was in some movie.....then gives a big speech on how you could get a call the night before a big audition so you always have to be ready. Then says he needs $600 right there on the spot. Its been 5 months and not one phone call. Dont fall for this scam.
Gave Them the Opportunity to Prove Reviews Wrong – I read the reviews prior to contacting Elen's Kids, but kept an open mind when I called them to inquiry about how their process works. A girl answered the phone in a friendly manner. I asked how the process works and she told me that it all starts with an interview with the child and parents and that a 1 or 2 day notice is usually all that is given before a go-see in the City. That was all she offered. So I asked if there was anything else we needed to know and she said that parents need to bring a photo of the child; it does not have to be a professional photo. I then asked if they operated as an agent would, collecting only a commission from any job the child receives through their agency. The girl replied with a rehearsed-sounding response to the effect of "as with any agency, fees are always involved". According to the Better Business Bureau, as well as friends in the industry, an agent will NOT collect ANY fee until a job has been completed. I asked the girl on the phone at Elen's Kids what the fee will be and she would not give me an answer. I'm sure she was just doing her job and told not to give an answer to that question. I explained that the drive to Elen's Kids was very far and that if there was a substantial fee we would be unable to afford it, making the drive there another expense we did not need to incur. She refused to give any other answer other than "as with any agency, fees are always involved". I had asked only twice about the fee, yet she had clearly lost her friendly demeanor. I then said, "Even though I read the reviews of Elen's Kids, I kept an open mind and had hopes that you would prove them wrong, however you won't give me any fee information whatsoever and you became agitated when I politely inquired about fees." To this she replied in a nasty tone, "Oh, okay!" and then hung up on me! How is this professional? IF THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE SPECIFIC NUMBERS ON THEIR FEES OVER THE PHONE, THEY SHOULD AT LEAST POLITELY ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND EXPLAIN, IN A PROFESSIONAL, NON-CONFRONTATIONAL, MANNER WHY THIS IS THEIR POLICY. Instead, I was hung up on. I'm sure the parents who gave Elen's Kids a positive review have the disposable income to afford whatever fees Elen's Kids deems necessary. Unfortunately, that is not the case for every family.
Don't trust them. – I received "the letter" in the mail saying that my child has been brought to their attention... yea ok.. It was sent to my mother-in-law's house (the only address we gave to the hospital when he was born) so they must scan hospital records for recent births and get your information that way. Anyway, I called to make an appointment.. they seemed nice on the phone until I asked if there are any fees. The woman got all defensive and kept saying "we don't discuss anything over the phone" This was her answer to everything I asked.
After reading all the bad reviews online about how they charge a fee of $600 upfront, I started to get suspicious. It is illegal for an agency to charge anything until they actually get your child a job.
So, I called to cancel my appointment and when I said I didn't want to reschedule because I heard they charge fees, the woman said in a nasty voice "oh thats fine" and hung up!!
I'm glad I canceled!!
SKETCHY. – So I received on of their standard letters that say "your child has come to our attention" and was suckered into the idea of calling (should have been my first warning) Well I made the appointment. And it sounded like the gentleman had a whole speech prepared of what to say. Should've been my second warning. Well, I will say he (elen's husband) was very nice on the phone.
Well I started to read up and I kept seeing that they ask for a lot of money up front to sign a contract. -which is not appopriate. Anyway, someone from the office called to confirm my appointment, and I asked her about the fee to sign the contract. -She kept telling me they go over it in person and she couldn't/wouldn't talk about it over the phone. Well I finally I had to say to her, well I was thinking of cancelling because this is what I heard. If you're not comfortable telling me you charge to sign a contract, I don't think it makes sense for me to come in for an interview. And then she said thanks and hung up.
Elen's Kids may be great, who knows, maybe the actually book. But that's no way to start working with someone. It was totally shady.
