Worth writing a review! – We had a reservation not knowing if we would need one, there were five of us. We were pleasantly pleased with the knowledge and patients of or waitress with explaining in detail many of the items on the menu. We started off with a bottle of wine and a salad which were excellent! We each ordered something different and we all had the same conclusion, we would be back SOON! It was a quaint atmosphere with a modern flair. We had a great experience all around!
Our favorite place! – Chef Ross is a master with taste, texture, creativity and presentation. What else do i need to say? We have never had a less than 4 star meal here. We brought our family members here and they now regularly drive from the far southwest Mpls. suburbs for the experience; it is THAT good!
Exceptionally good tasting food, service you'd expect in the finest restaurants! – Our food took a bit to get to the table but was worth the wait- we ordered the chicken marsala and it was awesome. Our waitress was very helpful when we were making our selections - she knew the menu and the preparation methods. We never felt rushed - it was a nice quiet atmosphere. Located in Taylors Falls which is a very quaint town just north of the cities. I will definately go back and bring a few more friends.
Fabulous Food with Amazing Ambience – My husband and I ate at this restaurant on Saturday night. We came in with no reservation thinking no problem. When we walked in they were so busy. Somebody greeted us promptly and let us know that they were all booked up for the night but she would see what she could do to get us in. She left for a few minutes and came back and told us she had found us a table. We had the best experience here. Everyone was charming and so helpful. The food was unbelievable. Even on such a busy night the chef made his way to the table and ask us how everything was. We were more than impressed and will be back. Anyone that can make it in to this amazing restaurant should. Just remember make a reservation!!
A perfect romantic, fun and great tasting place – I would agree with the last review written 12/2006. My wife and I just dined there this last Friday. (2/2/2007) I don't think you can compare this restaurant to any other in the area. The food at Blue was excellent and creative. The staff was very helpful and fun. The environment was also creative and enjoyable. We had the Walleye cakes and the rigatoni, both were perfect. The sauces were a compliment to the meal and did not overtake them. The wine selections were excellent, the chef came out to ensure the meal was perfect and the deserts, well, they topped off the night. I strongly recommend this place to any couple looking for a special night and dining experience in Taylors Falls.
izabella_leah must work for the Dam Bistro – I just recently saw izabella_leah's review for this place and I cannot believe that anyone would say that about this amazing restaurant other than someone who works for the Dam Bistro. I live in the area and have visited both restaurants many times, Tangled up in Blue much more than the Dam Bistro, only because the Dam Bistro was closed for a year because they could not make it work. Yes the prices are high at Tangled up in Blue but you get what you pay for when it comes to this restaurant, the food is out of this world, and if anything, in the last four months I would say the food has improved. The only thing that the Dam Bistro has going for them is that they use "all organic" which is great if only they knew what to do with it. Oh and the ambience is nice if the kitchen staff isn't swearing at the heaping pile of dishes that build up on the kitchen island. Well if you know anything about good food you will just try it for yourself. So back the Tangled up in Blue, the seafood selections are outstanding, I would highly recommend the Walleye Cakes, the sauce with them is to die for. Everytime I have friends or family in town this is the place I take them, I make sure we all get something different and we all sample each others food, it is so much fun and I love it because my guests are always impressed. If your looking for a great night out and a wonderful experience from start to finish, this is the place to go. Oh and you won't get over the decor there, it is very BLUE.
over priced and not worth the time and effort – When this resturant opened we loved it but in the last 4 months or so it's gone downhill. The pricess remained high and the food has gotten worse. The staff is rude and I could over hear them arguing in the kitchen on my last visit. Not worth it, instead head across the river and go to the Dam Bistro, it's only 3 minutes away the food is better the pricess lower and it's open at more logical times. Don't waste your money on this place!
Fabulous! – My husband and I have been here twice and absolutly love it! The decor is very cool and yes, blue! It's a very small place and they don't take reservations so expect a bit of a wait. The service is excellent and personable (the owner cooks and his wife hosts). The wine was great and the food was even better. The first time we went we split a pesto pasta dish and a spicier mexican pasta dish. Both were amazingly good. The bread that they bring you with vinegar and oil was also good. The dessert was my favorite though. Both times we had creme brulee (first time was vanilla, second was chocolate). Both were out of this world! Even the bathrooms at this place are cool! They switch the menu every couple of months so it's always fun to see what's there. It's a pricey place to eat but well worth it.
WELL WORTH THE DRIVE – It may seem risky to drive as far as Taylor's Falls to a new restaurant that doesn't take reservations, but your spirit of adventure will be rewarded! Tangled Up In Blue is vibrant, funky, unusual, and trendy, oozing with creativity. It is very small, with only two little tables tucked on to the streetside porch. But the food is hip and delicious, and the decor (all BLUE, of course) makes for an intimate atmosphere. Be sure to check out the bathroom. The risotto of the day was our favorite - and there is a great wine list to go with it.
