Great! – As a decorative arts lover I was really impressed with their collection of porcelain and such. They also currently have a great cut glass exhibit! The decorative arts section is well curated and presented.
A refreshing collection of world-class pottery and porcelain highlights the permanent exhibits inside Charlotte's comprehensive art museum. – In Short
Built in 1836, the building was the first branch of the United States Mint. Later, it became the first art museum in North Carolina. It is an experience for serious art lovers or those who simply want to look around. The Museum's permanent collection is comprehensive, but concentrates on American and European paintings, furniture, crafts and decorative arts; African, South and Central American and Spanish Colonial art, and a world-famous collection of pottery and porcelain.
Free attraction? – As great as the Mint is, it clearly doesn't belong on the top ten list of FREE attractions:
Adults $6; college students/seniors $5; children (6-17) $3
