I've wanted to try this place for a long time and finally decided to do so. My mom and I went for lunch and the food was not very good. We started with the crab bisque and we both thought that it was lacking something. To me, it tasted burnt but my mom (not wanting to waste food) ate hers and mine. Everything was too spicy. I'm someone who can handle spices and nothing is spicy to me but I could not eat my lunch portion of fish because of the spice being too strong, my mom also said that her food was too spicy. The service wasn't good, either. The server acted like he did not understand what we were asking or did not speak good English and it took several requests to get items that we wanted. The only thing that we liked was the bread and garlic butter. Those items were very good. I am glad we finally tried it like we had been planning to do but sadly, I do not think we will be back.

Best traditional seafood on Houston's west side – As a videographer shooting commercials for Citysearch Houston, I get around to being invited to eat at many of Houston's best restaurants, and sometimes I write about them as I am doing now.

Now Joyce's is not a large place, it is quaint, and its not the most modern decor, in fact its sort of a throw back to the 70's. But Joyce's makes up in the cleanliness, hospitality and friendliness of the staff, and excellent food! I was blown away at the number of waitstaff at Joyce's, and their dedicated attention to serving their customers. Then there is their menu which has not only coastal varieties but inland fish and mussels... mmm! I had the Rainbow trout. Not many places Rainbow trout and it was scumptious! Back to the menu. You want to create your own dish? You can at Joyce's. How many places allow you to do that?Again it's their attention to serving their customers.

my favorite! – joyce's is, with out a doubt, my favorite resturaunt in town. service is amazing, the food is always fresh, well prepared and reasonably priced. if you're in the mood for seafood, or even if you're not, try joyce's! you won't regret it!

Really good seafood – Don't let the hidden location dissuade you; it is worth the effort, as the seafood here is as fresh as any upscale seafood restaurant in town. The chef in my opinion does an exception job of preparing the dishes I have sampled, and the presentation is always top notch. The interior decor is a bit over the top with the whole "wharf" theme, but the food is the star. The sauteed calamari is one of my personal favorites; fresh calamari, sauteed, not fried (fried is an option).

Please! – $50 for lunch for 2 with no booze! The waiter didn't speak English. No matter what salad dressing you request they bring the same one. No bread, no water. The gumbo was burned as was the coffee. The place had maybe 5 tables filled, Oh yes and my favorite gripe, they charge exactly the same for a glass of Porto Bin 27 as I paid for a bottle at Specs yesterday. That is why we had no drinks

Best seafood PERIOD!!! – My first time to try Joyce's and it will not be my last. This was 10 times better than Gaido's or Casey's in Galveston, not to mention Pappadeaux or Landry's. I and my partner had a small Ceasar salad to start off with, the house Chardonnay was fantastic. I order combination seafood platter (shrimp and catfish) and it was the best and freshest I've ever had. My partner had the rainbow trout encrusted with pistachio nuts off of the tonights specials list. He said this was our new seafood hangout. I ate too much to try a dessert, but the next time I will have the White Chocolate Bread Pudding.

Try it once and that will be the last – The food was nothing special. Not to mention not many thing to choose from. Not much of a selection. Service was Exellent though. But if you are looking for good seafood you may want to try another place. The restaurant was nice on the inside. It had the look and feel of a seafood joint. But since i enjoy seafood so much I would not recommend going to this place for the price of not so great seafood.

Best Mussels in Town! – If have not been to Joyce's, then you have not had the best seafood in town.

Cover your eyes, point and order...you will NOT be disappointed.

Yet, if you are a mussel lover, than you MUST try Joyce's mussels, steamed with white whine bianco sauce...there isnt even a close second.

If you are NOT a mussel lover, You will leave a believer.

Enjoy!
