My favorite place in Dallas – I tell everyone that they have to go to the Slip Inn.
On thursdays, they play old school hip hop and the DJ's are banging. Great mix of people. Finally, a place in Dallas where people don't care what you look like, what you are drinking, or who you are with.
Go there three times, and you are a regular. All the staff will treat you like you are old friends.
Also, the girls here don't play games. They are some cute chicks that just want to dance. So just make sure you can keep up with them.
The Slip Inn is Terrible! – Bathroom lines are too long
Everyone freaking acts like they know each other
Drinks are too strong
Parking is the worst after midnight
There's no cover
Just too much diversity, clubs make more sense when everyone is of the same economic and socio demographic
Everyone is dancing and waving their arms in the air like they don't care or something
The DJs play crazy, weird mixes to songs you know the words to
The bartender makes fun of people
There's no dress code so it get's confusing when people try to be all original with their outfits
It's so dark in there you'd almost think people were good-looking
They take freaking Discover??!! What bar takes Discover? Sheesh.
AND You can't go with a bad attitude, tell me what bar in Dallas prohibits ATTITUDE? Seriously?
That's all I've got.
The Slip Inn is awful. Don't go. Really, it's in your best interest if you are researching a bar to go to tonight with your friends, this ain't it. Go find a nice, pleasant trendy lounge or wine bar!
***Sure hope this works, 'cause parking has been out of control lately and I'm trying to get my front door spot back.!!!***
bunch of wanna be's – This hole in the wall is just that a hole in the wall...for staff that are all strung out...don't forget STREET HOODLUMS like the short bald tattooed star headed boy who thinks he is all that..Oh I forgot word is he's in locked up...just where he belongs...and don't forget the manager who thinks he is such a ladies man likes to start a show looking like a freak...just for the attention...when he should be working...the owners should really consider a new out look starting with a new presentable staff..Wouldn't recommend this place at ALL.....
Awesome Crowd – Yes it does get packed, those rumors are true.
Yes it looks shady from the outside, but it adds to the atmosphere.
If you're one of those typical stuck up, pretentious Dallas people who like to go to those "ultra" lounges paying $20 cover just to stare at people...then avoid this place.
However, if you're a down-to-earth, chill person...then come on down!
Thursday nights is old-skool hip-hop.
Fridays is mainstream hip hop.
Saturday is mixed of everything.
Depending on your flava, any of those nights will be off the chain.
Slip Inn boasts the most friendly staff I have ever encountered. Even the bouncers struck up friendly conversations with me and did the whole one-arm hug when I left (and yes I'm a guy).
The security gets the crowd hype by dancing with the crowd or standing on the sofas and waving their arms around.
DJs are great too.
BUT, it gets very packed and the place is small. To enjoy to the fullest, go with a group of friends (none of you will get turned down, wear whatever the heck you want) and try to take over an area on the dance floor.
No cover...all fun.
Love it!! – Have to admit I was a little nervous walking in the first time, but so so so glad I did! Best DJ EVER! I make it a point to go back every time I'm in the Dallas area. I think people tend to think of us a snobs when we walk in, but at the end of the night everyone is your best friend. Door guys are funny, bar tenders are cool and again DJ is amazing. So much fun. But you gotta be chill and don't expect it to be something it's not. It's not your average "ultra hip lounge"...it's a dive and I love it!!
Worst bar in Dallas – I was at this sorry bar on friday the 29th with about ten friends I noticed the diverse crowd and saw some old time friends from school which was cool I went to the bar waited about fifteen minutes for a drink the bartenders are worthless they obviously know absolutely nothing about service so I did not tip being in the service industry myself I know if you give bad service you pay for what you buy but you dont tip next thing I know I got kicked out which is pretty damn funny because I wanted to leave anyways the bar smells like a trash heap and curry all the bartenders were ugly dudes who looked like convicted felons the dj was cool but the owner , bartenders and the bouncers can get together and have a circle @#$% for all i care. The group I was with and myself all agree The Slip inn is a place that appreciates losing business and will probably continue to do so until its too late
great music, fun crowd, entertaining bartenders who know how to pour a drink – At first glance, this bar is, admittedly, more than a little intimidating!! It is unbelieveably crowded, and not for the faint of heart. However, it only takes a few minutes to realize that, no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you're wearing... you somehow fit right in! On Saturday nights, the DJ keeps everyone out on the dance floor with his uncanny talent of mixing every type of music imaginable-- believe me, there is something for everybody. The bartenders manage to keep the insatiable crowd happy, with their excellent drink pouring skills (something that is often, sadly, lacking in other bars). For the people who claimed not to like this bar, I can only assume they are in serious need of a personality transplant! If you can manage to have anything short of an awesome night at the Slip Inn, odds are... IT"S YOU who's the problem!!
The Greatest Dive Ever! – I must say that "The Slip" as my friends and I like to call it, is a GREAT place. I have meet some really wonderful people there. It is a Fun, diverse dive bar. The music is incredible, the ability for a DJ to cater to a diverse crowd is a gift. So many DJ's cater to a specific genre and may step out of the box on occasion, however Pappyfromjersey has the ability to entertain all. I too was there on "That Night", the comment that was made may not have been my choice, however we live in the USA! Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. The girl that stole from his tip jar was inappropriate at best. When she had the gaul to argue, at the end of the night I might add, she was ranting and raving that she could say whatever she wanted! Well...that is the point, Pappy said what he wanted. There is a sign that hangs all over that bar that says "If you are not a part of the party, you are a part of the problem", that sums it up. If you don't like it there, don't go. I have introduced this place to many of my friends and we have all had a blast everytime we have been there. It is normally drama free and that says alot for bars and clubs these days. The entire staff is great and they are not my friends! I simply enjoy the crowd, I would encourage others to visit with just that in mind. This is a bar you can show up at wearing pretty much whatever you want and be with whatever crowd of people you are with and not have to feel like you have just joined the popularity contest in order to have a good time. Give it a chance and I am sure you can find something about it that you will love.
Could of been better – Came here on the 26th with my buddies. Don't know too much about the DJ but the music was "OK" girls were pretty cute and the drinks were reasonably priced. I've been to better bars in Dallas. Reading the reviews however ,made me realize this DJ has his fans (or friends I should say) on his side, since his comments and the 2 people who stuck by his side wrote them on the same day or after?? Should of made it more believable, dude.
It is NOT cool that someone took your tip out of the jar though, but doesnt that just prove what kind of a DJ you must be? And as for that being the worst thing that could happen to a bartendar or DJ? I AM a bartendar and it does happen from time to time, its part of the business. You should never take it personal, some people are cheap a-holes. Sometimes you get tipped, sometimes not. To wish someone Aids though and to a crowd of drunk people just looking to dance and have a good time? I wonder how many people in that bar that night knew someone with aids and didn't find it funny. Joke or not , I find it pretty offensive. Maybe, next time joke about your mother.
Saturday Night @ The Slip – The Slip Inn - Dallas' finest, seediest, most interactive dive. If you are any of the following: laid-back, easygoing, intelligent, as well as own a sense of humor and a decent and knowledgeable taste in music, then you are more than welcome. If you do not happen to possess at least 4 out of these 5 characteristics, you will not appreciate the scene, nor will you be appreciated in return. In my opinion, The Slip Inn is not a place where the true fans come to "look good" or "be seen" or any of the things that many people are into in Dallas - it is where people come of all types to let it all go. If you are uptight and cannot take a joke, especially an offensive joke, you will not last two seconds in this bar. If you are cool - and I am not talking popularity cool or you THINK you are cool - if you are truly a person who wants to have a good time and not worry about how the rest of the bar or the world sees you, then you will more than likely be enveloped into the awesome society that becomes a "we put the 'fun' in dysfunction" kind of family. pappyfromjersey has been there as of next month for FOUR YEARS as their resident Saturday night DJ. I am guessing if the crowd or the owners thought he was so horrible, he might not still be there. The truth of the music is this - he rocks, and therefore the crowd has a blast, and that makes the Slip Inn a great palce to be on Saturdays. But don't get cocky and forget the rules - respect, above all, those that give you Drinks and Music. That respect inherently means you SHOW IT!!
