Bad Experience – I have had my hair coloured by Nhan twice at Memorial City Mall. No problems with him.
I went in to have my hair dyed this week and didnt enjoy the experience. A total of four people fiddled with my hair during this visit and no one looked especially happy to be doing so.
I had my hair dyed and that was fine. Someone started washing my hair and when her next appointment arrived I was handed over to someone else who continued my wash. My back got absolutely soaked during the process.
She then took me to have my hair dried, managing to look deeply unimpressed at having to do so the entire time. Her appointment then came in and she literally handed the hairdrier and brush to the next person so saw walking by. He looked as if he thought the brush or my hair would attack him and took a long time to give me an ok, just ok, dry. My hair line was covered in permanent dye so I asked whether he would remove it which he said he would. He didn't and being annoyed by my wet back and bad experience, I didnt pursue the lack of dye removal and just resolved not to return to this salon.
As I say, happy with Nhan's dye job but the overall experince was bad.

Great customer service!!! – If you are looking for a great hair cut and great color I highly recommend you go see Sandy for cut and Mari for color!!! They both are awesome at what they do!!! I was very leary about coloring my hair and Sandy referred me to Mari for a consultation and she talked me through it!!! NO PRESSURE!!! My color is awesome and my cut is just as good!!! So if you are looking for a new hairdo...go see them!!!!
Celebrity Style Colorist at Memorial – I was looking for a colorist, and I was told about Nhan, decided to give him a try. He has a good eye for what color I needed to go with. I initially wanted to go with a medium brown highlight, but he suggested I go bright and blonde. He was right on the money! I've never had more compliments on my hair in my life, and that includes the time I had my hair done by Mariah Carey's personal stylist in Vegas. Nhan is definitely the man to see for great color!
Rude hair stylist – I went to get my hair dyed back to my original color at Toni & Guy at Memorial City Mall. After sitting there for half an hour, my colorist said I can get washed out now. I don't recall what was the lady's name that shampooed my hair, but she was skinny and Asian....
1) she didn't wash it clean enough because there was still soap all over my ear
2) she didn't squeeze the water out of my hair enough that the water started to sink through that black coat they gave me, plus my shirt.
3) she had the rudeness to tell me if i would mind walking out like that, just because the salon was packed and everyone was busy.
I understood that everyone was busy, but I wouldn't have mind if she had just asked me if i could wait about 5-10 minutes for someone to dry my hair. But she had the rudeness to tell me if i would mind leaving with my hair like that. I know she had another client waiting for her, but that question was just really offensive and uncalled for. I mean, would you mind walking out of a salon with half of your hair dyed or cut? I don't think so.
5-10 minutes, a nice polite guy came around and said that he's going to dry me out now. Thank you, I really appreciated.
After this bad experience, I doubt I would wanna go back at all. Probably only for the reason that my colorist knows my hair texture and all. That would most likely be all.

Highlights with Jessica? READ THIS FIRST! – If you're getting highlights with Jessica, be sure to specify that you do NOT want lowlights. I came in, asked for a full head of highlights and added that I wanted to lighten my look for summer. I was pretty clear--there was no room for confusion. Somehow, she put in a mix of highlights on top with lowlights everywhere else--and my hair turned out darker!! When I asked her what was up, she said she did that so I wouldn't have to come in as much for upkeep (I never told her this was an issue, and have gotten highlights for years), so I'm not sure if she was trying to explain away her mistake or thought she knew best--she's a very sweet girl, and this is my only negative experience at Toni and Guy. I had never gone to her before, and I won't go to her again. I wouldn't recommend you go to her for color but if you do, really spell it out and make sure she understands exactly what you want so she won't do the opposite!
Mykie is the best colorist in Houston!!! – I have been searching for someone to do my color, the right way, for longer than I can remember. Mykie really listened to me and asked me questions in return. I can not tell you how rare it is to have a stylist truly listen to you and then understand your needs. I am aware that what I ask for in my hair color is very hard to do, but Mykie had no problem at all giving me the lighter blond color I wanted, without all the brassiness....he is my new BFF;) Go to Mykie at Toni and Guy in Memorial City Mall, he is a rockstar with hair color!!! To top it all off, he is attentive and the price is great too.
