Good Food, Bad Service – We came here for brunch on the weekend. There was some live music. We were seated right away. We liked our food. In fact, we were talking about what we'd order the next time we came. Definitely the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. But then we ran out of coffee. And they never brought any bread. And no one came by to check on us for a very long time. When the waitress finally did swing by my girlfriend, she sweetly said that I never got the muffin I ordered. The waitress seemed very miffed and said sarcastically, "I'm only human. Sometimes we forget things" and then stalked off. Umm, okay. No one ever accused you of being less than human. We just were hoping to get the things we ordered by politely reminding you since we recognize that you are only human and that sometimes humans forget things. She never returned. Someone else brought the muffin (which was quite tasty, by the way) and the check. And then they never returned. We ended up giving the bus boy our payment. He was very nice and unfortunately for him, he has to work with jerks.

Great Food and Service – I love this little neighborhood bistro and have been a regular there for many years. The food and specials are terrific and the service very caring. Try a Croque Monsieur. It's delicious.

Gives French Cafes a bad name! Don't waste your time and money! – I was just there today on 9/11/07. This place has the dirtiest eating areas you can imagine. They don't even wipe the tables with solvent for the germs, they just use plain tap water. There were flies everywhere! The short/bald white guy that was waiting tables was extreamly rude. Why can't I just order a Latte and a Crossant? Why should I feel obligated to order some big meal even if I'm not hungry? There was hardly anyone there at the time anyway. But When I told him that I just wanted to order those two things he flipped and lied to me. He said "That's fine because the kitchen just closed" and he had an evil streak in his face like the look of Satan. 2 minutes later a couple comes in and sits down with menues and orders a meal. Now how could anyone order a meal there if the kitchen just closed for the day?

The other things which I really hate about that place are the exuberantly high prices for food that is so hastily put together by underpaid mexican laborers. Like eating cardboard really.

There is no French cook!!!

Also I pass by this cafe all the time. They don't open their doors until 15 minutes after 8. Even though they are supposed to be opened by 8. How could they make any money selling coffee to office workers during the morning rush hour if they only open up at 8:15 but the workers need to be at work by 8 o' clock? They also close super early. By 2:45 they close their doors! How could they sell any coffee to office workers on their evening commute home during rush hour? Those are the times when cafes make most of their money is between the hours of 6am to 8 am. And from 3pm to 6pm. Right before they open and right after they close! How do they expect to remain competitive as a business?

Also the people that go to that cafe are extreamly stuck up. Wealthy people with lots of money who only care about themselves and nobody else. The worst atmosphere for anyone to go and unwind.

Don't waste your time and money!!

Dan – A M A Z I N G. My all-time favorite place to eat lunch in Culver City (work at Sony Pictures). And I come to CL often during the weekend for brunch... The food? fantastic. The service? friendly, helpful - listen to their recommendations - very knowledgeable. If you ever go there on their crepe day (have a semi -rotating menu and specials), order the stuffed crepe (mind = blown... so good) Have brought some of my most jaded gourmand friends to brunch and they loved it

Best couscous on tuesday – First of all, i love just about everything about Cafe Laurent. I have been a customer there for about 3 years. i have enjoyed my every meal. OK for the bad reviewers, it can get a little hectic on sundays and lunch is busy. The service has a touch of french to it but eh..c'est la vie !

They have an excellent couscous for tuesday lunch. I love the brunch and I feel sorry that to some the jazz music on the patio sounds like rock...find yourself a nasty old dinner with great muzak for a relaxing sunday brunch and leave us our cool sundays at Cafe Laurent. A note I'd like to add regarding their "oily potatoes ", after checking with Laurent, they never use oil, all the cuisine is made with butter, no transfat thank you !. Those potatoes are called "gratin Dauphinois" or scalloped potatoes in english and are a french specialty...get on with the program grumpies !

To conclude, I have visited the restaurant regularly with my 2 years old daughter who also loves the place..the neighborhood kids are here in force with the doggies on the patio...it is casual, fun and delicious...thank you!

Bad Brunch experience – My husband and I ate there for the first and last time on Sunday, December 17th for brunch. The service was OK but the food was tasteless and the potatoes with the egg dishes were disgusting and slimy, covered in some congealed oil or fat. We both got sick from the food and I suspect it was the potatoes although I only ate a few forks full.

Terrible Customer Service, Good Food – I've been a regular at this restaurant for over a year now. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice, HOWEVER, the service on my most recent visit was horrible! My husband and I went for Sunday Brunch and ended up leaving without so much as a drink on the table. The host sat us and we waited for 15 minutes with the menus on the table. No one ever bothered to come and take our order, they were busy, but there was not a wait and many tables were open. After waiting too long, without so much as a look in our direction we decided to leave. The host looked at us as we were leaving and I said we'd been waiting for 15 minutes and no one had even bothered, at the very least, to take a drink order. No response, no apology, he just let us walk out the door. Needless to say they lost a loyal customer. It's amazing how one bad experience can really sour you on a place.

Pancake (or Crepe?) Nirvana! – I love this place! From the artistically appointed interior to the aesthetically lovely patio, the atmosphere is tres chic yet relaxed and the pancakes (which you can order with fresh berries, my choice, or more decadent add-ins like Nutella) are sensational. I am surprised and the very negative review as I've been to the Cafe many times (as it is walking distance to my rumpled bed) and have yet to have a negative experience. Vive la Differance!
