Rude Owners are a fashion DON'T.
I normally come on only to write positive reviews about places that I enjoy, however after my experience at Nuvo Moda I am compelled to do otherwise.
I feel better reading the testimonies below, knowing that I was not the only one treated completely disrespectfully by the owner here. I have come into the store twice now in hopes that it would be different the second time around. The owner acts like the boutique owners in LA - thinking they are better than their customers and almost a celebrity in themselves. I had picked out a few dresses and he took them, looked at the sizes, and told me I would not fit into one of them (I am a size 4, the dress was not an unreasonable selection).
I liked the dress I tried on but did not buy it solely because of the way I was treated.
Get over yourself... you own a shop that is almost always empty, and the reason for that is your poor customer service and arrogance. I will never come to this store again, nor do I recommend it to anyone else.
Mixed Feelings. I want to start by saying that there isn't another store like this in Seattle. I always go here if I am looking for a dress for a party or special occassion, they have a great selection. But I always hate walking inside because I always feel so pressured to buy something! They are sooooo pushy! It makes me really uncomfortable. I still shop there but only when I need something for a special occasion.
Arrogant & Presumptuous. Following my experience at Nuvo Moda, I will never return and highly discourage anyone from purchasing clothing at this shop. The owner was extremely arrogant and presumptuous, commenting on his reputation and "his clientele". I have shopped in boutiques all over the world and have never been treated so poorly. I am more than willing to spend money on a quality product in a store where service and the customer is valued, which was not the case in Nuvo Moda.
Avoid!. I was shocked and insulted by my treatment in Nuvo Moda. The owner asked me where I was from, but before I could respond said, "You must be from Seattle. I can tell by the way that you look." When I inquired about a particular product, he brought me out the size that he insisted I was, disregarding my request for my actual size. He then said that he finds it difficult to communicate with people from Seattle because "we" are more interested in close-out department store purchases than quality and fashion. I have shopped in much more expensive boutiques in New York, London, Paris and Rome and have never been treated so disrespectfully. His comments were unwarranted and cutting. I do not recommend anyone subjecting themselves to this treatment.
Newest Styles. I love this boutique! Mark always carries the newest styles. Actually, it seems like he knows the next trend way before it's even here. Their dress selection is great, and they also carry a great line of jeans. If you have not visited this boutique yet, you must!
Editorial Review. International styles with bold attitude draw trendsetters from all over Seattle to this downtown boutique.
First place for shopping.
Its the first place I go if I want a new outfit or shoes. Mark & Tamara are fabulous and give you 'no pressure' outfit suggestions....and they are honest too if something doesnt look good.
They often have fashion shows & in store events too.
They have another more casual store in belltown too - Nuvo Moda Express
Impeccable service, Terrific style. This shop is a gem. Can't believe I never came in before. The shoes are to die for and the selection of dresses and evening gowns makes me cry... in a good way. The service was the best, both friendly and intuitive. We felt welcomed, pampered and appreciated, especially in a city known for its icy service industry.
