Service at Ejo kills the whole mood – I had a good laugh out of their service at Ejo.

Sure, you can make mistakes in serving food etc. but the way they dealt with their own mess was extremely bizarre.

Our first waitress seemed like a young waitress, so my family tried to understand her even though she almost yelled at us not to sit wherever we want (there must have been a grilled seat reserved for others). After about 20 minutes later, a second waitress came by and took our order. She forgot to bring our water cups (just a water jug on our table), but we waited with patience. Our first waitress came back and asked us to order food from the menu. We told her that we already did, but we would love to get our cups to drink some water from the water jug they brought to our table. When we asked for the cups, she demanded us to tell her which drinks we would like to have. Seriously, you don't demand customers to drink something even after we have already said that we would like to have our cups to drink some water! When we told her that we already ordered our menu and that we just need some cups to drink water, the waitress said "I know. I am just flipping some pages" with her snappy attitude. Her terrible service totally ruined our dinnertime!

Even still, we decided to wait for our food and try not to ruin our family's mood and have some "quiet and nice" dinner. Two waitresses came back with our food but both of them forgot to bring our rice to eat with our main dishes. They didn't mention anything about our delayed food.

One of my family members got furious (especially when one of the waitress threw down the food on our table!) and asked for a manager to come out, but he or she (the manager) wasn't even in the restaurant. What, a manager is not even in the restaurant? These whole stuffs were way too silly! That first waitress came to us and yelled "can't you see that we have only two waitresses who are serving food at this point?" as if we were wrong! She should have mentioned at least something, wow.. Not a single coworker tried to do anything about our complaints.

We didn't dare to touch the food they served to us and just went out. I am never recommending this korean restaurant if you were to have some nice dinner service. What a day to ruin our whole mood!

BAD SERVICE BAD FOOD – My sister and I went to Ejo today.

I don't know why we had to go through this whole thing but we had problems from beginning till the end.

When we stepped into the restaurant, we didn't see anyone so we assumed that we could just step in and take a seat. But one waitress approached and DEMANDED us where to sit depending on whether we want grill or not. We said we don't need the grill but she let us sit on the table with grill anyway. :S

Then we had another waitress who got our order but the first waitress came back and again, DEMANDED us to order. We told hear that we have only water bucket here and the waitress said like, "I was going to give you the glass of water," in unacceptable manner.

Finally the food bowels came but there was no rice bowls to go with them so we waited another 10 min. I had enough of a patience and went to the kitchen and wanted to see a manager. Then that first waitress came to me and asked 'WHAT DO YOU NEED?" and yelled at me like "CAN'T YOU SEE WE HAVE ONLY TWO SERVERS and ARE BUSY??"

We were already pissed off twice, but THAT one was really unexpected.

So we decided to leave even without touching any foods there.

In addition, we had ??? and ??? as main dishes, both of them looked like they were mixed out of other stuffs that were recycled.

I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope that others do not have to go through the same situations like me.

Half Price? – My parents wanted to try E Jo because they were looking for a new sushi restaurant in the area and E Jo offers half-off happy hour sushi. Well, its not half off if you just double the prices first! A mediocre veggie roll was $7- I would rather go to Takashi where everything is absolutely divine, and the rolls are less than that full price! The server was nice enough but super slow even though there was no one in the restaurant. There was nothing impressive about the experience- the atmosphere is below average, sushi is average... I would recommend Go Sushi for slow service but better sushi in that area, or even Red Ginger. Of course nothing compares to Takashi but even Naked Fish or Ginza are better than E Jo. I know you keep driving by that "Half Off Happy Hour" sign in front of E Jo- just keep driving!

Great sushi, kind people – My boyfriend and I went to E Jo's one day on a whim. We passed it, saw the word "sushi", and decided to try it out. We're big fans of sushi.

They seated us quickly, took our orders, and our first visit there we did actually wait forever to get our food. There was nobody but us in the restaurant. Then it took about 20 minutes after we were obviously done and waiting to get a check. They kept looking at us, so they knew we were done, but no effort to get us our check. We did give EJo's another couple chances for some reason, and they did seem to improve on those things. Quite a lot, actually. So we are loyal customers now. Just hope they don't go back to how they were the first time.

Terrible Service – This is a letter i wrote to management:

I recently attended your restaurant with my girlfriend to enjoy some of your sushi. We had been once before and enjoyed the food and the service. When we arrived at around 5:05 pm there was only one other group of people in the restaurant and it appeared that they already had their food. We ordered our sushi quickly, as we were both in somewhat of a hurry to attend to other obligations that we had after our dinner.

5:20 came around and we had noticed that not only did we not have our food, but also that it appeared that nobody was even working in the sushi bar to make our food. Our waitress was nowhere to be found and did not notify us of any delays. Around this time a group of people came and were seated directly behind us and they too ordered their sushi promptly.

The chefs then came and began preparing the sushi and within a few minutes, around 5:25, the group that just came in received their sushi rolls; ours were no where to be found. After the group began to dine, they realized that this was not their order. The waitress went to their table, was very apologetic to them and offered them a discount. Not a word to us inform us that they just gave our food away. Three of the four rolls that we ordered finally came at 5:50, 45 minutes after we ordered, and 25 minutes after our order was given to someone else. The fourth roll was forgotten and once we informed your waitress that it was missing took another 10 minutes to appear.

After the whole ordeal, there was not one apology about the wait or about giving our food to someone else, nor was it even acknowledged , nor were we offered a discount. I have never experienced such terrible service with such ignorance before in my life. This was a terrible experience and not only will I not attend your restaurant again, but I will strongly encourage others to stay away as well. I hope that this will not happen to any of your future clients.

A genuine surprise – I wanted to try something new and has seen EJo's for about a year and decided to try it. I was really impresed with the lunch menu selection they offered. While I only tried the California Roll that came with the lunch special, I was impressed even with that and will be going back to try more sushi. The waitstaff was friendly and service was prompt. I was seated right away and the food was on my table in no time.

A Sushi Surprise – I'm a confessed sushi snob. I've not only eaten it from coast to coast in this nation, but ate it regularly while living and working in Japan some years ago. So when I saw the "Sushi Bar Grand Opening" sign outside some little ma and pa joint called E Jo, curiosity got the best of me and we went in for a try.

Admittedly, my expectations were low. I guess that goes with being a snob.

What greeted me instead was a prompt opening of the bar even though we were the only ones there (we arrived at 4:50 pm and the sushi bar technically opens at 5). Our hostess was a sweet woman who sat us and mdae sure we had a drink order until the opening. And right on the dot at 5, the sushi chefs appeared out of nowhere and gave a quick check to the fish, which was meticulously cellophaned in the common refrigerated see through unit that sushi aficianados are used to seeing. In practically no time, we had our order.

What I sunk my teach into rivalled, or maybe surpassed, the best sushi that ever made it to my insides. Finely prepared and cut, plates artistically crafted with the best of them, it just melted in the mouth. We ordered a 16 piece sashimi plate (which was very reasonably priced) and loved it so much that we ended up ordering a few pieces more.

And the custom of "sabis" or the sushi chef giving you a freebee at their discretion, was not lost on the chefs at E Jo. Near the end of our delicious dining experience there, the great chef placed a nice piece of fresh tako (octopus) onto some Korean spicey sauce that he was very anxious for us to try. Yes, it was surprisingly good. Nice variation on a theme, if you ask me.

E Jo's sushi bar is SUPERB, and I learned a valuable lesson about judging a restaurant by its cover, or its location.

Drop what you're doing and go there tonight!

A Hidden Treasure – I'm not sure what restaurant that last reviewer went to, but it wasn't Ejo. Although the service may be a little sporatic, the food is consistently very, very good. We have been there several times for their BBQ, always enjoying the tender pork and assortment of traditional Korean dishes. Being huge sushi fans, we were tentatively excited when Ejo opened their sushi bar. I say tentatively because sushi is so delicate and hard to get right, but Ejo succeded in spades. The sushi chefs are very friendly and extremely talented, the fish was very fresh and the presentation is unparalleled. Ejo is a fabulous, family owned business that deserves your patronage.

ewWW – The food was horrific, the staff sloppy, your bottom will get sore from the chairs and you will suffer a lighter wallet for no good reason. I suggest avoiding this shack.

A mainstream venue offers Salt Lake a glimpse into the flavors of Korean cuisine. – In Short
An expansive dining area with a soft color palette welcomes patrons to a generous menu full of traditional Korean fare. Bulgogi (sweet soy-marinated beef and onions), kalbi (short ribs), and spicily marinated meats entice carnivorous diners, while vegetable and noodle dishes and an impressive array of sides such as kimchi (spicy pickled cabbage) and bean sprouts satisfies those seeking lighter repasts.
