DO NOT RENT FROM THESE INBRED BUFFOONS!!! They will enter your apartment without a 24 hour notice. They did this on several situations and left our door unlocked while we were at work. They never fix any maintenance problems or issues. The owner is not in Kentucky and leaves his assistant in charge, who is a complete idiot and talks down to all tenants who call about a concern or issue. Past tenants have lost their deposit over shady business practices.
Never Again! – I though this place was going to be great because of its proximity to campus and seemingly reasonable rent. However, I soon found out that it would take them 3.5 months to repair my bathroom door (which couldn't shut) and my kitchen sink (which leaked every time I did dishes). Parking was always difficult to secure, and I had to listen to everything (EVERYTHING) my neighbors were up to. The office staff were difficult to get ahold of, and seemed lazy and indifferent to an concerns I had. I had two friends who also stayed at other Wassmer properties. One had issues had maintenance issues Wassmer wouldn't attend to, and the other had her bicycle stolen twice. We all say, "Never again!"
Rental Trap – We rented at Wassmer Townhouses. They look great from the outside and at first glance, and their proprieter makes a great presentation, but they are a trap. The utilities are ancient and in poor repair; they are horribly inefficient in utility usage; and the appliance are in surprisingly poor repair for their appearance.
Also, the landlord becomes intensly irrational and hateful as soon as you run into maintence problems. His philosophy isn't so much good service as get people signed into a lease then screw them.
Landlord is a Slumlord – I chose Wassmer as an out-of-towner for its proximity to campus and UK police. he advertised "recently renovated". what i got was a poorly maintained dump next to a half-way house. The Unit had not been cleaned between me and the last tenet. Maintenance requests were ignored for months. I was constantly told that he was too busy for me...even though i was paying more than other properties in the area. I had no AC from August till October despite weekly complaints. My utility bills were astronomical due to faulty appliances. When i complained, the owner told me in all seriousness, that he though i was intentionally breaking things.
The exterior was not kept up. the driveway was full of potholes. I had to have my axle repaired due to this driveway. broken glass around the apartment complex remained for 6 months despite several reports.
I got a sublet after 5 months, a process through which the owner unmistakably tried to undermine me.
when I called to complain, he regularly yelled at me stating that I needed to calm down. Despite my professional tone when conducting business with Wassmer Properties, i was constantly demeaned on a personal level when dealing with the owner.
Don't do it – Absolutely horrible landlord! Money hungry and only interested in ripping students off. The appliances looked good from the outside but when we started living there, we found out that the stove doesn't work, the blinds were missing, constant leakage of water, the ac broke midway, and the apartment was badly insulated causing a bill of around 200 just for utilities! The only response to the complaints were lame excuses and unfulfilled promises of a repair. Overpriced and disgusting attitude. 100% do not recommend.
