HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE – I went looking for a bridesmaid dress 9 weeks before my best friend's wedding. She registered at David's for the bridesmaids becuase it was the only national chain she could find to ensure we all got the same color. I was able to pick my own dress (which were all cookie cutter dresses without much variety). The sales person did ask what the color was but didn't check to see if the dresses I picked actually came in that color. She told me the sizes run small and picked out a size for me, which ended up being TWO sizes too big! The sizes DO NOT run small...I have had two children and fit into the size I was wearing pre-children. Their sizes run big. Anyway, so after we picked out all the options and I started trying them on she had to run back and get me the next size down, and then the next size down. She kept bringing me the wrong sizes, insisting I was bigger. She eventually left and a new salesassociate came on. I was still trying on dresses, found two that I liked and that my husband liked. It had been well over an hour by the time they got to me and got the sizing issue figured out. I picked out one I loved and a back up, both of which were on sale. We went to pay for it and were told that my first pick did not come in the bride's color!! So, I went with the second pick. She looked it up and it came in the right color but it was a 'special' order and would take 12 weeks!!! At this point my children were tired and crying and my husband was frustrated as well as myself. So, I had to go back and try on more dresses, all of which I hated. I ended up picking a dress I hated the least and had to pay $56 more for that dress. She did give me $20 off for 'their mistake' since they had not asked me the colors in advance. I left upset knowing I had just blown $200 on a dress I hated and still needs some alteration. They will NOT be doing my alterations. The customer service wasn't exactly rude, but was not very thorough. I could have avoided being let down twice had they asked me my color and the date of the wedding in advance! I WILL NOT use David's Bridal ever again. As well, my sister in law called them to see if they carried modest style dresses for her wedding, in which they told her "you'll never find that." IF that is their tactic to try and get someone in the door then they are just plain stupid. The BEST place to get a wedding gown is in Placerville at Renfros right downtown. It's worth the drive to be spoiled and treated like a princess by the two nicest British ladies ever and try on some of the most exquisite dresses within a few hundred mile radius and amazingly their prices are incredibly cheap! NEVER go to Davids!
If your time is important to you. Don't go here! – I made my appointment a month and a half in advance. My Mother lives 3 hours away so I don't have many days that I get to go shopping with her. When I made the appointment I was told that I would be sharing my helper with one other bride. No problem I am pretty easy going. I got to my 1pm appointment ten minutes early. I was told to look around but not to grab any dresses that I wanted to try on. At 1:15 I was finally called up to the front. My helper asked me my measurements in front of everyone I was with. I was told by the helper to wait in the room and she would bring me dresses to try on. NOT TO GO GET ANYTHING MYSELF. So I waited and waited and waited. Thirty minutes latter I decided I had had enough. It was almost 2pm and I had not gotten to try on even one dress. So as I was walking out she stopped me and said "Oh I'm ready to help you now." But she still didn't have a single dress for me to try on! When I told her waiting an hour was just too long of a wait for me she seemed shocked. What really upset me was the "apology" call I got four days latter. It started out very nice. She let me know that she felt very bad about what happened and would like me to come back in. This sounded great I was starting to calm down about the situation. Until... She let me know she was sorry that know one told me I would have to share her with others. After all it is a party atmosphere. That if I felt like I needed to have more one on one attention maybe I should come in at night after work and book myself two appointments so they would have more time for me. I For the record when I left David's bridal I went to bridal mart. Two people helped me at the bridal mart and made me feel like a bride. It was quite and fun and the dresses were a much higher quality!
Terrible customer service – My best friend was attempting to be considerate of dress cost by going through Davids Bridal for her bridesmaid dresses, however after my experience there, I definitely feel it is worth the extra cost to go somewhere where you feel like your business matters.
I unknowingly showed up during a very busy time and was directed very rudely to the table they had set up in back to put my name on the list, since I had the nerve to show up without an appointment. The people at the back table were also rude and had a hard time finding the proper bride information and acted as if this was somehow my fault. I was then told that I needed to stick around the store, since they would be calling out my name and if I didn't come within the allotted time they would give up my appointment time to the next person in line. So I was forced to wonder the store for over an hour and a half, and when it was finally my turn it took them another 15 minutes to find someone who was willing to help me. Really the only help I got from the attendent was a guide to the dressing room and a guide to the front counter. She had no advice, suggestions, discussion of alterations, or anything that might be helpful to me. I came out of the dressing room with the dress and all she had to say was, are you done? When I said yes, she told me to go up front and order it....and that was the extent of my appointment.
The only courteous service I've gotten to date, is over the phone. I have yet to pick up the dress, but I do not plan on using them for my alterations.
I have since then, been asked to be in my sister's wedding and she had a similar experience at a Davids Bridal in Boise, Idaho when she went looking for wedding dresses and I begged her not to go through them for the bridesmaid dresses either. I prevailed and got my other dress through House of Fashion Outlet in Sacramento and they have so far been great! Friendly, informative, professional and I'm a much happier bridesmaid!
so far so good – the service was not the greatest BUT the lady was able to bring me exactly what i was looking for. i only had to try on five dresses at this store before i found THE ONE. again, she wasnt the most attentive towards the beginning, but she really made up for it when she brought me the exact gowns that i wanted. i have not dealt with alterations yet, but i will comment if anything goes poorly.
Terrible Customer Service – I already knew I disliked David's with a passion from the few short visits I had there during my own wedding. So I was disappointed when my best friend sent me to David's for a bridesmaid's dress. I received horrible service when trying on the dress and ordering it, as I expected. Then, I came back to pick up the dress. The woman brought it out to me and it was wrinkled - it looked as if I wore the dress to work for a day. I asked her if she would steam the wrinkles out. She said that there was no point, as the dress would just get wrinkled again hanging in my closet (unless I paid them to alter my dress . . . then they would steam the wrinkles out). She then advised me that I should buy my own steamer, that way I could steam ALL of the bridesmaid's dresses!!! Ladies, please, if you wish to deal with this place, go for it, but please don't subject your bridal party to David's Bridal!!
