Tips for Yosemite National Park

5.0
January 27, 2005

A miraculous world of wilderness that leaves everyone completely humbled in its midst.. Overview
This national park embraces a 1,200-square-mile tract of wildlife in the Sierra Nevada. From the timeless meander of rushing water through Tuolumne Meadows, down into the silent presence of Half Dome, the whole setting, which ranges in elevation from 2,000 feet in the valley to 13,000 feet in the mountaintops, is shaped by an immeasurable sense of wonder and beauty.

Facts
There are 13 campgrounds in the park, all of which are operated by the National Park Service. Each campsite is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing toilets, and contains a fire ring, picnic table and food storage locker. Most campgrounds are located in Yosemite Valley, near the park's most celebrated attractions. Campgrounds in Crane Flat, White Wolf and Tuolumne Meadows are often less crowded, and offer breathtaking scenery.
