Fabulous alterations, makeup and more – The Bridal Loft is a fabulous place for brides. I had a great experience working with this honest, fun group of professionals and artists. Kim at Sewing Solutions did great work fitting my gown. She was accommodating, easy to work with, and did beautiful work - even letting the dress out a pinch the week before. I loved my dress and felt beautiful in it (for the full 12 hours of our event). Charissa from Event Cosmetics (along with owner Katherine and coordinator Dolcie) did a great job with my makeup. They provided early counseling for treating my very dry, sensitive skin. Their advice was effective, without costing me a lot of money in products. I will certainly continue with the skin care routine even after my wedding. Charissa helped choose colors and makeup that made me look naturally beautiful, while adding a bit of glam and drama for my special day. My wedding makeup looked beautiful and flawless, felt comfortable, and lasted over course of the day. I highly recommend putting your wedding needs in the hands of these talented group of women.
Amazing Work / Amazing Customer Service – I am using the Bridal Loft for my hair and make up and my experience so far has been above and beyond my expectations. My consultation was more like a private party and having personal wedding consultants with Kathy, Charissa and Dolcie. They were able to take my "vision" of what I wanted to look like and it turned out better than any of the magazines I brought in for examples...seriously...I looked fabulous. Charissa is an amazing hair and make up artist.
I called around every hair / make up place in the book and they are the only business that will truly cater to your needs - they are willing to meet me at 530am to get my hair and make up done and Dolcie has been extremely responsive to all my typical Bridezilla demands and questions. I am so happy that I am using them for my wedding, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Not your standard bridal store, but what a fabulous place! – I am a former client of the Bridal Loft. My wedding was in July '06. I don't know why I didn't write a review sooner, but I recently stopped by to bring copies of my wedding pictures to the fabulous Loft ladies and that triggered my memory of what a great place this is and I just had to write a review. If you are straight laced and overly serious and stuffy this probably isn't the place for you! This is a fun, professional, energetic and creative group of women. Things do operate differentley here, which is the only reason I can think some people gave them a bad review. The Bridal Loft isn't Nordstrom's. It is a small business. Sometimes getting an appointment can be hard, mostly because the business owners are also their own secretaries, schedulers, accountants, etc. If you aren't familiar with small business you may have trouble understanding how they operate. I had my gown altered by Kim (she is funny as heck!) she is very skilled and I would trust her with any gown. Andrea designed my headpiece to match my dress! Alex made some fantastic earrings for me, which also matched the beadwork on my gown. Katherine, Clarissa and Dolcie were my amazing team for hair and makeup. I have never, ever felt as beautiful as the Event Cosmetics team made me feel. Dolcie was even like a mini wedding planner scheduling a timeline for hair and makeup to make sure we stayed on time. It was so nice to have someone else worry about that for me. I did have to wait a couple weeks to come in for my makeup and hair consult, but they were very flexilble, trying to get me in with my crazy work and Graduate school schedule. Trust me, it may be work to get in for an appointment but every service at the Bridal Loft is well, well worth the wait and every penny! My only suggestion, don't just walk in, make an appointment.
Service Disaster – I do not reccomend using Event Cosmetics at the Bridal Loft unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands and enjoy making millions of phone calls just to get someone to pay attention to you. Their website is very brief with information so I emailed them, as suggested on their page, and it took them almost two weeks to get back to me and only got back to me with a thank you for contacting them!! They gave me no information so I called to talk to someone about details and it wasn't until then that I was notified that I was on a waiting list. Katherine, who owns that business is great and very helpful, but her team of girls (not women) are worthless. They asked me what time I needed them on the day of my wedding so they could squeeze me in. The last thing a bride wants on her wedding day is her makeup artist dashing off in a hurry and not being able to take her time and make your day enjoyable! If you use them just make sure you get details immediatly and make sure you get confirmation that you have enough of their time scheduled! Good Luck!
Unhappy with Sewing Solutions – Although some of the people at the Bridal Loft may offer great products or services, I had a terrible experience with Sewing Solutions (Kay). My dress is a custom designed gown with very high quality silk taffeta, which wrinkles easily and will show pin marks, natural oil from hands, ect. Kay didn?t wash her hands before handing the fabric, stuck pins along the top of the hem (creating visible holes), and said that she would steam the dress (it needs to be pressed?steaming would ruin the fabric!). She also did a poor job of pinning the hem, leaving the hemline uneven. I addressed these concerns to her, and she was very rude and dismissive. I ultimately decided not to have her do the final hem work, and when I went to pick up the dress, it was shoved in the dress bag, with the underskirt on top of the dress (instead of inside the dress), further compressing and wrinkling the fabric. I am horrified that someone who is supposed to be a knowledgeable professional would do such sloppy and damaging work.
Great vibe at this shop! – This shop is amazing. Not traditional bridal by any means. A cool, mellow, funny and friendly place. You generally deal with the designers one on one, which results in amazing products. I had a custom veil designed as well as some beautiful jewelry, more expensive than other options but these are beautiful heirloom quality pieces well worth the cost to pass down to my family for generations. The makeup team is amazing. I had to wait until a few months before my wedding to book an artist, but I was well taken care of, and never knew I could look so amazing. It's a splurge but once you have had an Event Cosmetics artist do your makeup, you'll wonder how you ever looked great without them. Overall a great place, expect to pay more, but this is local handmade products. The prices are higher because good quality costs more, they aren't over priced they are priced just right for what you are getting. Amazing!!! So sad the wedding is over and I don't get to see these friendly faces on a regular basis anymore. Do yourself a favor and stop here to see what they have before you do any shopping anywhere else, then when you go to other stores you will see what amazing talent these women have.
Best bridal shop – Fun, casual atmosphere. It's so refreshing to go into a bridal store that doesn't feel stuffy or pretentious. All the girls are so talented and friendly. They have everything from custom bridal gowns. bridesmaid dresses, jewelry, veils, headpieces, make-up and hair services, event cordinating, and alterations. This is a must stop location for anyone getting married!!!!
Make-Up like you've never seen before – Catherine the make up woman is truly and artist. I think make-up is fun, but usually wear it about 6 times a year. So I was nervous about how my fiance would react to seeing me in make-up on the big day and concerned about looking too made up at my outdoor wedding. Daylight is so unforgiving. She really made me look gorgeous and very natural. Her work with eyes is amazing. For all you no make-up Portland women out there, don't get scared when she tells you she's about to put fake eyelashes on you. Trust me, I'm one of you. I was sitting in her chair in my fleece and tevas thinking oh boy. The eyelashes looked gorgeous, couldn't tell quite what changed on my face, but it made a huge, but subtle difference. She puts eyeliner on so you can't really see it, but it totally defines the eye. I really can't say enough. Worth every penny!
Best Bridal store anywhere! – I got my jewlery made by Alex and my veil and hair accessories made by Andrea. They turned out beautiful! I also had my dress altered and steamed by Kim. This is a fabulous business with great people and caters to a variety of needs including custom dress making by Sarah. If you want a nice quaint place with knowlegable and friendly staff go here! It is the best!
different -- in a good way! – These women really know what they are doing and are not afraid to tell you if something doesn't look right on you, even if it's their product. I felt very comfortable there and knew they wouldn't try to sell me anything crappy. The alterations lady even told me a way to save money on a hem by just putting a petticoat under my dress. I had not even thought of that. You can really tell they all love what they do. I am definitely going back for jewelry and maybe the makeup artist...so much to choose from!
