Great Food – I had a very delicious burger for lunch! If you like burgers try them out!
Collins Pub Rocks! – The Collins Pub is hip little spot for lunch and post-work cocktails and dinner. Generally packed during lunch hours (from 12 to 1:30) and after 4:30, it's nearly impossible to get in during a pre-game for Mariners or Seahawks, unless you want to stand at the bar (which a lot of folks do).
The food is great and reasonably priced (although not cheap). The Collins' chefs are creative but stay within pretty traditional pub fare: great bugers and sandwiches, but also terrific seafood and very satisfying salads. The menu changes seasonally and regularly offers tempting treats. Portions are generous and the service is friendly. The crowd is comprised of a lot of regulars (Smith Tower and environs) and folks who are a bit newer to Collins -- but certainly will return. If you haven't discovered the Collins Pub yet, you should definitely give it a try.
Good beer selections, nice decor, lousy service, mediocre food – Had my first trip there last night. Granted, it was probably a bit more crowded than usual because it was 1st Thursday, but I was truly disappointed by the service. Our server was impossible to stop on his jaunts past us from bar to kitchen, spoke with us just enough to get our initial drink orders and not much else.
We ordered a variety of items, not one of which was anything above mediocre--they even messed up their Salumi meats app by leaving it out WAY too long before serving, it tasted like it had been sliced and unwrapped for two days at least. (and for fans of Salumi, this is tantamount to a mortal sin, it is WAY past venial!)
The ONLY saving grace of the entire meal was actually the house tartar sauce served with a set of decent chips and a mediocre fried fish. Nice dill--quite creamy and tasty tartar, the only winner for the all Seattle locals group we had...
A simply ordered gorgonzola-topped NY strip was cremated (despite asking for rare to medium rare), and well, the service was absent at best. At one point I sat with a completely empty water glass for at least 15 minutes--despite even trying to wave the glass at the server. One of our table asked if there was bread or anything to be had on the table--after about 20 minutes two slices of "Texas Toast" showed up on the table, for which we were actually charged $2. Then, as a final straw, after screwing up the checks (which we just sucked up as more incompetence and then fixed ourselves), the server brought me a PENCIL with which to sign my credit card bill. After getting a pen from one of our party, I then wrote the smallest percentage tip I think I've given EVER. (and this is coming from someone who tips quite well as standard, I've worked for tips a living before and know how important that daily cash is for survival)
My favorite beer bar in Seattle, with bonus fantastic food – I simply adore this place. The beer selection here is very, very good and interesting, and the bartenders and owner really love their beer. The atmosphere is comfortable, slightly upscale, with changing art on the walls. The taps are always rotating, and often with really unique American beers (New Belgium sour ale, Walking Man Imperial IPA, strong ales and limited editions and things of that nature) plus local favorites. They also have a great bottle selection. The service has always been friendly, and the food is excellent, especially beef (smoked brisket, or perfectly seared steaks). Bonus, for me at least, is that this place is mostly a lunch and after work hangout, thus making it less busy when we come on the weekends, so we can chat with the bartender and have a leisurely lunch or dinner with plenty of good beer.
Pretty good lunch spot – I went here with a friend for lunch last week. It wasn't particularly crowded, although there was no outdoor seating left when we arrived. We were promptly seated and given menus, which had the typical pub/bar food. I had the fish and chips and my pal had the burger. He absolutely loved his - my fish and chips were good as well, especially the batter, but they certainly were not up there with the best I've ever had. The drink menu was decent, with several beer options to choose from (including bitberger, which I haven't seen offered at very many places). All in all, pretty good place for lunch, not expensive, didn't take too long with pretty good customer service.
Good for after work – Good place to grab a drink and quick bit. Lunch time is fairly busy and ends up being far too loud to have a conversation with someone even right next to you. Worth a try though. Good service.
A good, solid average. – Met up with friends at The Collins Pub for an after-work drink earlier this week. I wouldn't say the bar is anything spectacular, but it is a perfectly agreeable place to stop in for drinks and snacks in the Pioneer Square area. The decor is unique...how many pubs have you been to that decorate the walls in metal dresses reminiscent of paper doll clothes?! It wasn't too busy when we arrived at around 5:15, so we had no problem scoring a comfy booth. The waitress was very pleasant although she seemed to be a bit harried as the evening progressed...my take on it was that she simply had too many tables to manage on her own. At our table, we enjoyed a few different kinds of wines--none were amazing, but all acceptable. My mussels royale was only $5 on the happy hour menu, as were the steamed clams...the former was dressed in Gruyere and bacon with the latter boasting chunks of ham. I am kind of a purist when it comes to shellfish, so I'm not sure I'd opt for those apps again. Collins has a decent crab-artichoke dip which we enjoyed along with slightly-burnt pita triangles--skip the cheese plate, as most people can have sliced cheddar and Pepperidge Farms crackers for less than $8 at home. Overall, Collins is nothing fantastic, but a good option if you happen to be in the area.
The Pacific Northwest's finest beers and wines get a proper home in Pioneer Square. – The Scene
Dark-hued walls and wood outline the stark decoration at this Pioneer Square pub. Drawing largely from the adjacent Smith Tower, local office folk make up much of the clientele, gathering around an expertly stocked bar featuring all the crucial high-end brands. More than 20 microbrews are available, mostly Northwestern, as well as a few standout imports like Chimay and Schneider Weisse. Both standard and exalted pub fare can be found on the menu.
User review by shapeshifter65 – had dinner and drinks the other night. food was moderately priced and good but not great. service was good, fast, and friendly. the crowd was small but interesting. i'd like to go back to see what the crowd is like a little later in the evening.
Great way to unwind – This bar has got an amazing blend of atmosphere, food, and good drinks. Smoking at the bar and non-smoking in the back, stiff drinks by cute bartenders, and live music Friday nights. After work, this is the first place I think of going to. And I usually end up there. In Pioneer Square and not sure where to grab a stool and have a beer? I highly recommend Collins. I never regret going there.
