My 2-year-old's favorite restaurant – Everyone I've introduced to Kalamata's is now hooked! My toddler can't get enough of the hummus, lentil soup, chicken salad sandwiches (no mayo), rice, and fresh salmon (on Fridays). It's a great stop before a show since you get your own drinks and pay when you're ready...not when your waiter returns. Kalamata's is perfect for a healthy, inexpensive family meal when you don't feel like cooking. We try to get there at least once a week. Check it out for lunch or dinner. You'll love the owner!
Just OK – Food was tasty. Tabouli was disappointing--too much vinegar/lemon. Best Greek food is at Kabobs in Brentwood.
GREAT FOOD! – The food is great! After moving to Nashville, I was very happy to find this great find in such a cute part of town (Green Hills)! If you go there for lunch during the week, expect to wait a little. Other than that, don't miss out on this place. I have eaten there over 20 times and everything I have tried has been YUMMY!!
You call this "Middle Eastern"?! – Coming from Detroit, I'm spoiled rotten when it comes to fantastic Middle Eastern food. Normal people may love Kalamata's, but I was completely disappointed. After reading many glowing reviews, I was expecting so much more. The portions were small and expensive, you had to order your food at a counter (no atmosphere), and everything was served on plastic plates. The staff was friendly and the food quality was fine, but I consider this a "scraping the bottom of the barrel" experience if you're looking for good Middle Eastern food. Plus, it's in one of the most congested parts of town! Ugh!
Excellent! – I love this place! I venture there at least once a week from across town. The kabob plates are delicious along with the wonderful greek salads with fresh produce. The chef is always very welcoming and entertaining. If you've not been to Kalamata's, you're missing out.
A taste of Old Beirut in Green Hills – I just moved back to Nashville after 15 years and was pleased to find the city with a substantially broadened culinary palette. Kalamata's has become one of my haunts. The food is promptly prepared and economically priced, but definitely not fast food; and everything is overseen by Middle Eastern native Mehir, so you know it's the genuine article. The value added is the excellent oud music they always have playing overhead (I always hate it when I go to an ethnic restaurant and they have Michael Bolton playing. It tends to kill the aura).
Best Med – Clearly the best Mediterranean food in Nashville to date. I would like to see this restaurant expanded onto a grander scale, a bigger facility with more resources. Quarters are somewhat cramped and output from the small kitchen strains to keep up with a busy weekend night. The food quality is excellent but portions are somewhat small for the price, a Green Hills location premium undoubtedly. Overall, thank God for making a good falafel available in Nashville.
Not just another Greek restaurant – I just tried Kalamata's for lunch and it was great! I went for the Tuna Salad sald. It had roasted potatoes, green beans, olives, tomatoes, feta and an awesome light dressing.
