Favorite Neighborhood place. We love this place. Waiters are very friendly and jokey (the complaint below about service must have been a misunderstanding), and we always feel at home. Now that they're back putting fresh mozzarella on the pizzas (the experiment with fontina, instead, was a very bad one) they are terrific. Thin crusted and crispy style, with a terrific margarita and additional items can be added inexpensively.

Good wine list, too. Amid all the South End fancy stuff, so great to have a homey neighborhood place.

Horrible Service, Nasty Food & a CO*KRO*CH. This restaurant had been a favorite of mine until my experience there this weekend. I used to visit Joe V's regularly when I lived in Boston, and I was so excited to go back while visiting some friends. It was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The service was beyond horrible and the food was disgusting. The meatballs were like rubber, the calamari was chewy, the mussels were undercooked and the risotto tasted like mushy overcooked rice. The wait staff was incredibly rude and borderline confrontational. Not to mention there was a dead CO*KRO*CH right outside the kitchen. I was embarrassed that I brought my friends to Joe V's, and I will never return.

Friendly Service. I'm a little torn about Joe V's. The service is phenomenal. Very friendly. Always a good job. The place is small & charming. Nice South End neighborhood..one block off of Restaurant Row. Great little place for a date during the week (weekends are a little crazier). The parking is tough...but that's to be expected in the South End.

The food is fair to good depending on what you order. One of the better pizzas in the South End. They have a wide variety of specialty pizzas...and all seem to be winners. The salads are very good. However, the pastas are let downs and the meatballs are just awful (bland & boring).

This is a good little place, but with a little fine tuning on the pasta entrees, Joe V's could be a great little place.

Best Bet: "Margarita" pizza and salad

Note: Open only for Dinner.

Great Pizza Spot!. This place is soooo good. Much better than Picco. They have daily Pizza specials. Try the BBQ Chicken pizza with pitcher of white sangria!! Delicious!!!

Tiny South End bistro dishes up satisfying thin-crust pizzas and heaping plates of pasta to young locals.. The Scene
With its bright, domineering flat-screen TV (rare for a South End haunt) and engaging menu (wines are categorized as "cheap" and "decent"), Joe V's provides local couples with a casual hangout. With space at a premium, patrons struggle to fit their pizzas and salads on narrow tables (solo diners tend to populate the diminutive bar). A large blackboard, used to list the daily specials, offers respite from the stark, modernist interior.

The Food
With the kitchen located just on the other side of the bar, friendly servers are able to transport barbecued pork pizzas from oven to table in a matter of seconds. Minimalist starters include an iceberg wedge topped with creamy blue cheese and a tangy cucumber salad. Pasta dishes, like penne with homemade sausage or linguini with clams and spicy marinara, provide more bang for the buck than the popular pizzas (toppings include baby spinach, black olive and feta).

great neighborhood spot. I've been here a few times and have always had a great experience. Definately worth going in the summer when you can sit outdoors.

Good solid neighborhood spot.. We went here a little while back. It was very enjoyable. We ordered the lettuce wedge and a couple of pasta dishes, all of which were very flavorful, given the general simplicity of the items. I'd definitely go back since it's a comfy neighborhood spot with friendly servers. I think 8 bucks is a bit pricey for a lettuce wedge, but it's the South End, and things have to be a bit overpriced. So yeah, go to Joe V's for that good casual, dependable food you like on a regular night...

Tasty and Affordable! Nice waitstaff!. I take people here all the time. The staff is extremely nice. Full gut rennovation brings the address a step up from the last restaurant. A great addition to the area! Try it you, you'll certainly enjoy it! Went to the brunch just the other day... delicious! Dinner is definitely better, but breakfast is breakfast. A must stop for any casual dinner/brunch.

Glad Joe V's is our Neighbor!. For a midweek relaxed casual but tasty meal, you can't go wrong here. The menu is super affordable and the red sox are being aired on a flat screen for all to see. The service was great. We had the Gnocchi with Vodka Cream Sauce and Sausage and the Sausage Pepper Pizza and both were good. I love that they have free dog bones for all of the South End dog lovers. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxing and enjoyable. We will be back I am sure.

Good Local Zaaa. Finally, a great little pizza place in the South End. Thin crust, high quality ingredients, and quick out of the oven (still hot). A little taste of Italy without trekking to the North side of town
