Great place to catch the World Cup – I caught the first game of the World Cup at the bar and I was pleasantly surprised by the toned down carnival atmosphere one might associate with the start of the world's largest sporting event. I enjoyed a pint and an excellently balanced sandwich with a great view of no less than four TVs, all without having to jostle for space. If you want a place that is going to open early for every single World Cup game where you can enjoy affordable drinks and decent food then Lir is your place. Joga bonito!

Lir is a bad bar – DO NOT GO TO LIR UNLESS YOU LIKE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR DRINKS AND MEETING STUPID JERKS. ALSO THE STAFF ARE TERRIBLE!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Do not eat here... – This was the absolute worst dining experience I've had since moving to boston. I ordered steak tips with red wine which translated as pieces of random meat with worcestershire, the strangest version of risotto complete with frozen peas and count em ten withered green beans. My date ordered the bangers and mash which was two small sausages with a little bit of mashed potatoes. The waitress informed us that they were out of mustard for the sausages so he requested butter which took another 10 minutes. I guess we should have been tipped off by the fact that no one else was eating. The only good thing I can say is the beers were reasonably priced. Avoid eating here if u can.

Hearty pub adds Irish charm and hospitality to the eclectic mix of cultures on Boylston's restaurant row. – The Scene
Imagine a sports bar opening inside the neighborhood library. Lir's 21 televisions are nestled inside dense, largely decorative bookshelves, ensuring that the game is always on. An enormous spiral staircase leads to a similar bar upstairs, and of course, more TVs. A hidden "chill-out room" in the basement promises loungey digs with clubby music, popular for the younger late-night crowd. The largely Irish staff is polite and prompt.

The Draw
The best feature is its location: a minor detour from Newbury Street and a stone's throw from the Prudential Mall. In other words, it's perfect for taking a break from shopping. Local suit-and-tie types enjoy hearty pub fare (Dublin sirloin served with homemade brown bread) for lunch and after work, when the happy-hour mingling game begins. Sixteen beers on tap counter a lengthy list of signature cocktails like the mint-chocolate-chip martini, a concoction of Kahlua, vodka and creme de menthe.
