Fantastic Chicken Caeser Salad – They start with lots of fresh rotiserie chicken, plenty of greens, and a slighlty spicey dressing, all piled on top of a dinner plate sized tomatoe flour tortilla. The salad is huge, and less than 6 bucks. Add a micro brew and you're in heaven! Great Mexican music too.
Excellent, affordable Mexican food – I'm very picky about what I spend my money on, and Pepino's is always worth it. Not only is it affordable, but the food quality, taste, and portion size are excellent. I particularly like the chicken & potato burrito. It's absolutely delicious! On top of that, the people who work here are always friendly and helpful.
yummy lunch spot – Love the salsa. I'm raised by a mexican mother so I'm a picky salsa person. Good place for a tasty lunch that you can watch as it gets prepared. It's not a fancy place obviously so don't expect a waitress or buser. You order at a register, watch them make your food, food is served on a cafeteria tray, and you bus your own table. They have good fish taco's, yummy burrito's and taquito's. Awesome portions. Vegetarian options. In the summer they have a back court yard area for more seating. It's a bit of a wait around lunch time just to order after that it's pretty quick but I usually call in my order so all I have to do is pay and my food is ready to take out. Go sweet tequila burrito :)
NOT that BAD!!!! – I HAVE BEEN GOING HERE FOR YEARS. YEAH, OFF AND ON THE PLACE IS NOT TOTALLY BUSSED OR TIDY. BUT KEEP IN MIND YOU BUSS YOUR OWN TABLES. IT IS NOT ALWAYS ON TOP OF IT FOR GETTING ALL THE SIDES RIGHT, BUT IT IS NOT HORRIBLE. THE FOOD IS AWESOME , LOCATION IS GOOD. IT IS LIKE A SMALL TAQUERIA, AND THEY ALL MESS UP ORDERS, AND ARE ALL A BIT DINGY. GET OVER IT. AUTHENTIC.
Go anyplace else – It was horrible! The place was filthy - tables covered with food debris and dishes, the floor covered with food waste and napkins, the sauce table was dirty and the pickled vegetables had no tongs. There were no clean napkins in the place and the toilets hadn't been cleaned in several days. The service was the worst... they forgot our guacamole and side of tequila sauce, gave us half the guacamole we paid for, refused to give us what we ordered, and were rude about it. We almost ended up wearing our tequila sauce. We got no chips with our guacamole, either, which, considering what it cost, is absurd. Almost anyplace else is better than this. Pepinos is best avoided, and that's horrible, because I have been here many times and it keeps getting worse. No way I go back until they clean up their act.
Decent food, bad service – We liked the food here at Pepinos so we continued to go there for the better part of a year, however, the service has annoyed us to the point where we will no longer be customers. The staff frequently forgets additions to orders... such as sides of sour cream and guacamole, or making the burritos "supremo" by adding cheese and guacamole... and when the error is pointed out (making the smallest possible deal of the error), all staff members encountered have been at least rude and condescending, and at most hostile. I work in the service industry, so I make a huge effort to be kind in pointing out an oversight, so to me this is a serious problem. There is no need to be rude to paying customers who are trying to be nice about a mistake that was made by the staff.
try the tofu and potato burrito! – i love pepino's, i've been going to this location and the one on 23rd for years. my favorite is the tofu and potato burrito. SO GOOD! the nachos are big enough for two people to share. the price is good and the service is usually fast.
By Far PDX's #1 Mexican Food – When I go outta town the things I miss most about our beautiful city are the 0% sales tax and "Una Mas". I love that place! The managers are super-friendly and once you become a regular they don't hesitate to refill your Horchata or Lemonade on the house. (You did'nt hear it from me) Good guacamole's hard to find but "Una Mas" has it down to the nitty-gritty. Why not ? It's a truly authentic mexican joint with prices that are hard to believe! A must try.
Yum! – It's worth going simply for the Steak and Potato Chipotle Burrito. Simply the best burrito in town. I won't say it's authentic, but it sure is yummy!
Bland, inauthentic, pointless – Taco Bell has more flavor than the tiresome fare dished out here. I got the veggie burrito and it was a waste of money. The salsas aren't that good either, although one is decently hot if somewhat oddly flavored. This place is no bargain, either- you're looking at $5 for anything beyond a burrito full of canned beans and CostCo orange cheese.
