Hidden eatery keeps Newton residents coming back for its fresh Thai fare..
In Short
Tucked into a narrow storefront off of Centre St., Thai Thai is popular with Newton Centre residents looking to take a night off from cooking. (Most patrons take their stir-fries to go, as there are only 10 seats at a long counter.) The open kitchen churns out authentically fiery fare like hot-and-sour tom yum goong soup, spicy grilled-eggplant salad, and Masaman curry.
Fresh. Fresh food. Tiny restaurant with stylish decor. Gracious service. Hidden location with ample parking.
Hidden Gem in Newton Center.
The bottom line here is that the food is authentic and delicious. They will make it to your level of spice desire. If you ask for "Native Thai", you get it. They don't add spice just for the sake of heat. Their dishes are thoughtful and flavorful. The spicy chicken soup is not for the timid, but heat/spice lovers will find it refreshing to find a soup that they do not need to add any additional sauce or peppers. Pad See Ew and "Garlic Pepper" are our favorites. The Tom Yum Goong Noodle soup (meal) is awesome. Try everything!
This is primarily a take out restaurant, so I wouldn't be bitter if you don't get 5 star service.
inexpensive, tasty, and good vegetarian options. We love Thai Thai, and eat there at least once a week. We order only vegetarian and find that there are a lot of options. We typically get the same things (red curry, pad thai, drunken noodles, spring rolls), but have been happy with each dish. They are great with accommodating my 3 1/2-year-old, and make her veggie dish with only the vegetables she likes. Some dishes are spicy, which I like!
Delicious and Authentic!. This place is in Newton Center and I've gone there several times to eat because I'm a student in the area, and each time was delicious. I've brought so many friends to eat there as well because the food is consistently good. The lunch specials are great, too, from noon to 3, costing only about 6 dollars. The food is authentic and spicy, and the ingredients are fresh. The restaurant itself is small and very clean, with tasteful decoration and a comfortable atmosphere. The stools and tables are raised up high, and it's just such a good find that I want to tell everyone about it. The Thai Iced tea is creamy and tasty, and the service is very prompt. I've tried many items and everything has been delicious. Try the curries, the prad pra gow, the soups. Everything is delicious.
The worst service I have EVER had. The owner, if infact it was the owner, was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I couldn't bellieve that she treated customers the way she did. Not only was she not helpful but she actually made NO effort to make things right. I don't know how the business is till running or she has any customers at all. I have been to many restaurants and never came across anything like this.
