very impressed! – this is a little hidden gem. it's tucked above holloway. you'd never know it was there unless someone told you about it. the servers are all very nice and the fish was very fresh. i really liked their sashimi dishes. this is the kind of place i would feel comfortable doing omakase, but it's almost a waste b/c their house specialty dishes really stood out to me. views are nice. prices are not bargains, but fair for what they are offering. decor is a little staid.
sushi chef restaurant with mellow atmosphere – wa sushi is great when you feel like sushi-chef food but want a laidback atmosphere. every time i have been there the fish has been very fresh, and the menu items are creative and fantastic. this is a solid sushi place.
cute place, average food at best – Strip mall sushi with a good idea - cute place with lots of windows, but the food is just not up to par. If you're going to do exotic dishes, i.e. abalone, find out how to prepare it before serving it to your patrons. We have eaten at the finest sushi restaurants in the world, and this one doesn't even come close to mediocre.
Best Kept Secret in Town~ – the 3 chef owners bring a wonderful sushi joint to LA. the presentations of all the dishes were absolutely wonderful. try the seabass, toro, crabs! greentea flan is also must. service is great and the view in one part of the restaurant is great.
THE BEST SUSHI!!! – The absolute best sushi restaurant in L.A.
Not only is the food amazing , but the service is absolutely incredible.
The ambience is great and the 3 sushi chefs as well as the servers are very attentive and there to please their clients!!!
WOW – Wa is fabulous. I frequent there as much as possible. Everything about WA is great - location, food and staff. I highly recommend dining here to anyone that is a sushi connoisseur.
Inspired fish creations boost this modest sushi spot above the strip-mall masses. – The Scene
Floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto a twinkling West Hollywood panorama, and provide the only visual panache to this second-floor mini-mall restaurant. Dressed-down locals crowd the small sushi bar, while larger parties opt for one of the few white-linen covered tables. Servers are warm and friendly, attending to novice diners and sushi aficionados with equal regard.
Three former Matsuhisa chefs are carving a niche in L.A.'s booming sushi scene with inventive dishes and fresh sushi. Spicy yellowtail salad reflects the trio's talent, with four seaweed-wrapped rolls stuffed with zesty hamachi and pierced with towers of crispy greens. Sweet Santa Barbara prawns are superbly offset with pungent sea urchin and smooth beurre blanc, and flaky Chilean sea bass is boldly paired with velvety foie gras. Traditional sushi is fresh, well textured, and can compete with the top masters. However, conventional Japanese offerings, like sunomono (cucumber salad) and miso soup, pale in comparison to more daring dishes.
