Tips for Suite 181
Has become as raunchy as the neighborhood. I've been here a couple of times and at first it was a cool place with a nice crowd. The last time I went it was completely obscene. For $20 you expect some sort of class but it was completely raunchy and trashy. Downstairs is a complete madhouse. You'll have to literally fight your way to the bar. It's okay if you don't mind paying the $20, but don't expect a vegas/LA - type club for that price. You'll be disappointed.
A hip-hop club for thugs. The crowd is East Bay thug types, criminals, low-class... You might not fit in. The enticing and classy website is far better than the club itself: the bouncers are rude, the drinks overpriced and the crowd is Tenderloin-grade.
Went from chic to G H E T T O!. This place used to be the place to see and be seen 3 years ago, now it is the stankiest, most ghettoest (that's right I said "most" Ghetto"est"), and uncivilized place ever!!! Everyone who comes here is bridge and tunnel, slightly unattractive, and very over-all sleazy. They have gone down hill. the only people ordering tables here are wannabes who are probably happy to be in a place where they can feel like they're better than everyone else, and they easily CAN be better.
Depends on which night you go.. Suite 181 is in a bad area and parking is a pain. However, if you go with a group of friends, it isn't so bad running away from a group of homeless in the tenderloin. Music is great and there's always a diverse crowd of all different ages. I would recommend researching which promotion group is throwing the party that night. I can't complain because I met my fiance there although I never imagined meeting a guy at a club.
Worst Club Ever...Don't even think about it!!.
Having a party with friends was supposed to be enjoyable and memorable, unfortunately and ridiculous, the party has started with the worst club we'd ever gone. As registered as VIP, "NOP" we still had to line up liked everyone else. ** Want to bring your camera for photos taking at this club? Don't even think!! They will probably ask you to pay unreasonable dollars as 'Coat Check', yet tells you that it is not possible after you've paid. Bouncers or doormen were treating us with uncivil manner that we did not deserve. Not to mention that the people were rude, they had ruined my girlfriend's bachelorette party.
In addition, the booze are quite costly and it's not consistent. So, what's the point to come here again!
go early. My friends and I showed up around 9:45 pm on a Saturday night. I was the only person on the guest list but my 2 other friends got in for free anyways because it was so slow. It was only dead for about 20 minutes and then a ton of people showed up and the club was packed. The drink prices are average. The bouncers are hard on guys who have messed up shoes. But I saw a few guys in blue jeans and dress shoes, so I don't htink the dress code is that strict. There are 2 dance floors, but the 2nd one doesn't open until 11pm. The outside patio also doesn't open until 11. Ladies the lines for the bathroom are long.
total dissapointment. arrived saturday with a party bus of 39 people, had to wait for at least 15 mins before someone came to greet us with nothing but rudeness and additude. after trying to be patient with the rude bouncer overlooking our dress code we were turned away because one person was wearing dress shoes that was considered not approaite even though they were not tennis shoes or boots. we all left and went to loft 11 and had fun anyways. i wouldn't try to go there again because it just set off a snoty vibe.
Aviod this club if possible its dead friday and overpack sat but employees are scamers.
crowd is cool. people are cool. Bouncers are hella mean for no reason.. There bartenders are crooks I bought 3 drink which the bartender told me would cost $39 (2henny cokes and AMF) when i closed out my bar tab cause there was no one there they charged me $47 when i told my bartender this bill was wrong he said "Hey man its a nightclub if you cant afford it don't come out" I then gave a zero tip and when i got my credit card statement the club charged me $57. I call my credit card company and won my case. Do not open a bar tab.
Another time i went there ( i didn't want to go becasue of earlier incident but it was for a friends birthday) I was on the birthday list which was free to midnight. I got up the stairs and went to show the girl working the door my stamp meaning birthday list. She tells me $10. I tell her i am on the free list till midnight. She tells me its past midnight. I look at my watch and i point out on her clock which was on the wall it was only 11:50. She tells me "Your not getting in unless you pay $10. I walked out. The inside of the club is great but the area is horrible its located in the TL where car windows get broken every night. The bouncers, bartenders, overall staff is wack. Go to loft 11 or NV instead.
Horrible!!!. Worst night out ever!!! Drinks were overpriced and watered down. The bouncers were mean to men. Not smoker friendly. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!
WORST CLUB EVER!. The drinks are watered down and expensive. The dress code for guys is strict- they have to wear black shoes or you can't get in( even after waiting for an hour outside). Freedom to smoke is not available at this club, you have to wait for the power hungry bouncers to show mercy on you...if that is possible. Two of my friends got thrown out after spending $$$. Need I say more.
