Billed as the "Fremont Street Experience," this mostly involves walking the length of downtown Las Vegas's Fremont Street while zipliners zoom overhead and the domed ceiling explodes in psychedelic patterns to the beat of Pat Benatar songs. There are elderly Elvis impersonators the color of Tan Mom, there are middle-aged tourists in cargo shorts drinking tall boys wrapped in paper bags, there are street artists and live bands and random costumed dancers and 99-cent fried Twinkies. There are also a dozen or so awesome bars and restaurants, check out my Downtown Vegas guide for those.

Seven-block, open-air promenade features the largest big-screen in the world, live entertainment, historic hotels and unique shopping. – In Short
Tourists and families stroll under a 90-foot-high, four-block-long electronic canopy that flashes colorful graphics and animations. Dubbed Viva Vision, the world's largest LED screen is paired with a 550,000-watt sound system to show specially produced shows played every night at dusk. Among the other attractions are Vegas' most legendary hotels and casinos, including the Golden Nugget, Lady Luck and Binion's Horseshoe. The Neon Museum showcases historical neon signs that formerly graced Vegas hotels.

A Wonderful Free Experience – I watched 2 or 3 of the light shows and it is an amazing display. It makes a very pleasant evening - watch a couple of the musical shows, take in a nice buffet, watch another show or two. Much more relaxed than the busy strip atmosphere - more 'down-home'. Stroll through a couple of the stores and pick up some trinkets for those at home. Not a must-do on every trip but a must-do at least once!

Great for kids – ..and a great place to get affordable water. It's definitely not for those looking for that ultra-lounge experience, as on the strip. pleanty of eatiereies, coolrelics of vegas' past, and the friggin Golden nugget is there for Pete's sake. Check it out, then continue down fremont to the Beauty Bar for a stiff drink. Hopefully there'll be a cool band out back.

Remember the light parade at Disney Land – I do. I was little when it disappeared. Fremont Street is neat because of the crafts and performers and shops and excitement. Here you'll find the old Vegas hotels and the Neon Museum. The parking is underground and validated. This IS a big city however. There are no entrance barriers so be prepared to deal with street people, beggars, and travelers of every description.

Fremont Street Experience – I thought is was great, can't wait to go back in November, 2003. It's a show you just have to see with your own eyes. Awesome! We will go back again, and again and again. Loved it.

Fremont Street is Great! – Imagine a shopping mall type of experience with just about every vice you can think of within a 5 block area. Gambling, drinking, eating, sex...its all right there. If you want a great time for less than half of what it costs on the strip, then pick a hotel downtown and live it up. There are great places to stay like The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Plaza and The Las Vegas Club. Don't forget Binion's Horseshoe either. Oh, yeah, love those shrimp cocktails at the Golden Gate and the Girls of Glitter Gulch! Fremont Street is the place to be for the best time in Vegas

GREAT IMPROVEMENT – I LIVED IN LAS VEGAS PRE- FREMONT EXPERIENCE AND THE DOWNTOWN HAS NEVER BEEN MORE INVITING. WHEN I VISIT NOW, IT'S NEVER WITHOUT A STOP DOWNTOWN TO SEE WHAT'S NEW ON FREMONT STREET AND WATCH THE SHOW

Awesome – I thought Fremont was really cool to visit. I actually went down there twice when I was visiting in Las Vegas. Fremont has a lot of neat little stores. I actually bough a lot of my family's souveniors down there. There were at least 3 bands that were playing, which kept the partying going. I had the best sandwich in my left down at Fremont. Oh, and there was a really cool artist down there. I sat and watched him for at least an hour. If you are every planning to visit Las Vegas, I would definetly visit Fremont. I had a blast both times.

Fremont Street Mis-experience – Covering over the infamous street, seems almost a sacrilege. During the day, the "roof" is ugly and at night the "show" is annoying. The music is always too loud for an enclosed space. The cover takes away from the glitter and awesome-ness of the original neon. The cowboy seems to have to "duck" under the roof and the Glitter Gulch girl seems subdued. What a shame to ruin it.
