Great Show! We had so much fun.
I read reviews of this show that date all the way back to 2004. They have been in business since 2001. The early reviews were good, but complaints about the show's first venue. Show now at The West Bank Café-Laurie Beechman Theater, a cozy cabaret venue with good service.
Overall good reviews. only negative if you expect a night of non-stop burlesque strip acts. I can tell you that Le Scandal was so much more. If I want "serious" strip acts, I"ll go with my buddies to Scores gentlemen's club.
We saw a mind blowing sword swallower, a hysterical juggler dude, burlesque dancers: one doing the classic 1940s style showgirl routine, and one hip performance art style, and another was boylesque, yes boys doing burlesque. He was very tall and very talented.
Miss Bonnie MC-ed, pulled it off with humor and some charisma. Live music, whacky songs, audience participation, and prizes. I'd say that's a lot of fun for $25 bucks in NYC's Times Square theater district. Good show to take your out of town friends, cause just enough edge to be cool, but wholesome enough for those who are easily offended. Risqué, not vulgar.
we all had a great time. theres a very personal touch to this show that makes you feel at home, in the intimate space-the West Bank Cafe.
A lot of good talent on the stage, but also, the performers and audience really seemed to be having a fun time.
Le Scandal's been playing in NYC for 12 yrs., and its one of the more professional shows out there.
Best Variety Show EVER! – I went to visit NYC around the first weekend in June and really wanted to spend my time seeing various shows. When I found out about how long this show had been running, immediately had me hooked. The West Bank Cafe had a nice, friendly, staff, the food and drink was very well priced and the show was AMAZING! each act had a special unique feature that I haven't seen before. Bonnie Dunn has such a way with the audience and made the show! AND the fact that they sell pasties at the end of the show made the night even better! OVERALL AWESOME SHOW!
Exciting and Fun Show! – Really entertaining and fun. Intimate and cozy atmosphere which was nice because there was some audience interaction, namely a sex quiz where audience members won burlesque prizes and free tickets. We had dinner, and the food was great. The West Bank Cafe has been in business for 30 something years.
The entertainment consisted of a very funny juggler, a sword swallower lady, sexy burlesque dancers, live music, a mind blowing contortionist.
Fun Evening for a Group Celebration – Bonnie Dunn is pleasant to deal with and willing to work with a group to make the evening a special celebration. Her show is fun, funny, and diverse. The live music is a good touch. Bonnie's including the audience is also a good touch and contributes to the experience. Unfortunately, much of the contortionist's performance was missed by those not sitting in the front row of tables. Maybe a higher platform for his act would help. I'm glad my group chose Le Scandal for our special evening out. Thanks, Bonnie and group for all your efforts.
Good food & nice new venue – nice space, good show. would be back sooner if not for the trek all the way to 42nd street
Le Scandal Cabaret Has Moved to West Bank Cafe! – Hi, this is Bonnie Dunn. I produce Le Scandal. We have moved to a wonderful location, right on Theater Row.
The West Bank Cafe-Laurie Beechman Theater
407 West 42nd St., NYC
The West Bank has been around for over 30 years, with excellent food and very professional and courteous staff.
No more long waits or bad seats. Show is on time, every time, all good seats, great food, and the best international acts from around the world.
Win fabulous burlesque prizes, too.
Long line, mediocre show – The line getting to the show was horrible ! We were the 3rd couple standing in line, but people were cutting the line left and right ! Instead of serving the people on the line, the host kept serving the people cutting the line. Instead of giving out tickets they go to each person to check their names on the list, and then call out the names on admission. The noise was loud and difficult to hear. People cannot hear their names. Maybe they stand in the back, went to the bathroom, or simply disgusted and left. You can imagine what a fiasco it made.
The show was mediocre. None of the girls were pretty. The sword swallower was old and fat. The indian body twister kept doing his act on the floor that you cannot see. The MC was decent but most of the jokes was not very funny. The show was rather short too. Before you know it, they asked for some audience to go up the stage and dance with the girls. It became so boring that even the performers left the stage. That's how the show ended.
If you want to see the show, you must get in line early, because the theatre is small and some of the tables has blocked view to the stage. Even then, you may not get a good seat because the host serve the insiders first, not the people on the line !
A Different Kind of NY Burlesque Show – Le Scandal Cabaret is very diverse, I'll give it that. The sword swallower grossed me out. It was hard to swallow. ha,ha.
Cute guys in this show. The burlesque was a little boring. I did like Bonnie Dunn. I hope I look like her when I'm in my 40s. Funny lady.
Oh, yeah, the band was cool.
Big on Variety – 10 of us went to Le Scandal for our bachelorette party. I really researched different shows, and decided that this was the best show for an all girls night out. The show is very varied, with hot guys not just burlesque women. Very different from the local burlesque shows. We saw the world famous Bob, and beautiful buxom big burlesque babe, and the most adorable petite burlesque brunette. This is what I love about burlesque. It is truly a celebration of all body types. Both were very good at what they did. Miss Bonnie Dunn, a glamorous madame, belted out a song about not getting it. Very funny. She had this very "wink and a nod" naughtiness, yet definitely the madame of the bordello type persona. We got hand made nipple tassles from Miss Bonnie. Sweet lady.
But, this show isn't just a boring line up of one burlesque after another. Eric the mentalist, hung from the ceiling in a straight jacket, ripped it off to reveal his muscles, then did some funky math trick. This guy has brains and beauty! Then the hottest pop star in the making juggler did his thing to a crowd of adoring woman. He brought two guys on the stage and joked with them, too. Very, very hot.
This show is a lot of FUN.
