Independent is the worst place I've gone to in 5 years! – Avoid this place at all costs!!!

The bouncer had an attitude problem and was rude to us.

The female bartender was also rude to us.

This is a very poor quality place to eat or drink at.

Food was crappy.

This is the worst place I've been to in 3 years and the first review I've ever written.

That's how horrible this place is.

The place did look nice inside...that's the only thing good about the place.

Had a great time – I loved the atmosphere. They were very friendly even for a sunday night. They had awesome specials. All my shots were on the deal. The appatizers were delicious. I loved it and I would go again in a heartbeat!

The lucky lady cocktail is tasty – I've been here twice with my roommate, the cocktails are good and reasonably priced, all we have ordered to eat so far has been the mud pie, which was delicious. Service was fine, the bathrooms are kind of weird but definitely not as disgusting as some other reviews have claimed.

Great food! – Don't believe the tools that write the crappy reviews on here- they don't belong at The Independent anyway, they should go back to the tool shed called Cowboy Slims where they belong.

The Independent has food and atmosphere that far out-classes their price level! Sunday brunch is fantastic as well!

Hey Kremer, you'r a D-Bag – I was on here to find the phone number of this place because I got so flippin sauced I left my debit card. Then I find myself reading some of the reviews and cannot believe some of you d-bags, especially you, Kremer-something-or-other. Boo phucking hoo you assclown. I would venture to say you are an only child that grew up in andover that now resides in coon rapids. I hope you felt better about "informing" the manager about your displeasure with "plugging" the meter and actually waiting for your food. I wish I could bet on you because I am sure you have red hair, a small pen15, have no friends and beat off to little boys. The independent is for people that aren't caught up in themselves and think they are the only responsibility in the entire place. Do the world a favor and don't "update" anyone on anything....no one cares.

Not the Greatest – Had the party room for a birthday gathering. Preordered some food that should have been served on a separate table. Instead the food was randomly placed in front of guests who then had to go around collecting what they wanted. Service was so-so. Food not so good. Cream cheese wontons were pretty good. Overall dissappointed. Called in to complain and was treated well by the manager - much appreciated.

This place is the WORST ever!!! – I do not understand how anyone can enjoy this place! It's always way too crowded with drunk frat boys, skankily dressed women, and just the general grossness of Minneapolis. Uptown is supossed to be "hip" (or so they say) but this place is just your general, everyday Meat Market. The bathrooms are the worst. There was actually various bodily fluids and excretions all over the womens' side the last time I was there. GROSS! Our waitress was rude and flippant with my group. Yeah, Sweetie, i get it, you're busy but all I wanted was a DAMN drink within a 20 minute time frame! Maybe they need more servers or bartenders or whatever, but I will never spend my money there ever again.

good food, fun crowd – I have never had a bad time at The Independent. The crowd is always composed of eclectic (usually) good-looking people in their mid-twenties. The food items, during happy hour, are only $5 each and the margherita pizza is a steal for that price! When I'm not there for a fun drunken night with a whole buncha friends, I am there during the regular daylight hours just for the yummy salads. The menu is somewhat limited but I would just go there for the decent price and the good salads/margherita pizza/nachos.

AWFUL – The bouncer was not a nice person and I would highly recomend going somewhere else.

There are so many better bars then this one. I would suggest going across the street to "Drink".

Worst place ever – The bouncer was very rude. He didn't believe it was me on the id and didn't give me my id back. I needed my i.d. to fly back home for thanksgiving break. Thanks to him I can't see my family.

It seemeded like the bouncer was very rude because we were Asian and he was extremely nice to those who were white. I do NOT recommend going there.
