Horrific haircut that will take me at least 8 months to grow out – It's been one month since the haircut and I am still so upset with the results. I had an appointment with a hairdresser (not a student) and she successfully destroyed my hair. I had long hair that was one length with a little angling in the front. I asked the girl to give me a trim (less than an inch) and advised that having an even haircut was very important because I like things to be symmetrical. Based on the results, the girl did not listen to a word I said. She cut short random pieces of hair on the right side of my head and cut the back into a V-shape. I estimate that she took off 3 inches in some places and 5 inches in other places. All the cutting was in the back of my head and she had me facing the window so I really had no clue what she was doing. I thought she was making it all very even. I nearly fell off the chair when she turned me to the mirror. She told me that her thought process was to "texturize" my hair. As soon as I left, I called Carmen Carmen and they cut it even. Unfortunately, I can only wait for the very short pieces on the right side of my head to grow out along with the rest of my hair. I will never step inside Modern Day Salon again.
Best Cut EVER! – I have had sooooo many bad haircuts. I had lost hope of ever getting a good one. A friend of mine to told me to go to Brittany Dion at Modern's Heast Tower location. She told me it was a little pricey but her and all of her co workers go to her and she's the best. I have to admit after 100 horrible haircuts I had my doubts. My friends hair however is adorable. So, I took her advice and went. It was the best experence I have ever had at a salon. Everyone was so nice! Brittany made me feel comfortable with her from the first minute. She sat me down and looked me in the eye and asked me questions no stylist has ever asked me. Now when I think back to the questions she asked I can't believe no one ever did. We talked for at least 10 minutes before my shampoo. I knew at that point my hair was going to look great. She really wanted me to be happy and wanted to make sure she knew what it would take to make me happy. After she cut it she explained everything she was putting in my hair, what it would do, and why I needed it. Then she even tought me how to blowdry my hair the right way. It's been two weeks since my cut and it still looks great! The best part is I can make it look great! I went in hoping for a good haircut and came out educated about my hair. No one ever tought me anything! I never knew what a diffence it makes to know your hair. I did everything wrong for years. Now I do everything right! Thanks to Brittany I have the best cut I have ever had and I LOVE my hair for the first time in my life !!!!!!!!!!!
VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! – My husband scheduled a facial for Mother's Day and I was looking forward to relaxing. It was the worst facial that I have ever had. It was so DISAPPOINTING!!!! The ladies name was Sudi and she was extremely rough, not relaxing at all. It was a thirty minute facial that cost $71.00!!!!! Are you kidding me.... I would absolutely NOT recommend this place to anyone.
Best Aveda Salon in Charlotte.....(period)!!!!!! – My wife and I had been going to another Aveda salon for several years and after getting several bad colors and cuts done we made appts. at Modern Salon and Spa in Ballantyne with Lesley. What an absolutely wonderful experience for us, the staff, the facility itself and the services are all top notch. Lesley, and her assistant Lauren, are simply the absolute best...for both men and women, and now my two girls (ages 6 and 4) are going to see them for cuts and trims. Modern Salon is simply the premier salon and spa in Charlotte :-) Don't be put off by other Aveda salons..it takes more than a sign on the building to be a true Aveda salon.
Feel Like a Princess – I just moved to charlotte and was very nervous about finding a new stylist. Modern was recommed to me by several people. I made an appiontment with a senior stylist. From the moment I got there begining to end I was treated like a Princess. I have never seen a place more Beautiful. From the cute little cafe area (with internet access computers and drink bar) to the well dressed smiling staff. They were all extremely friendly and made sure I was comfortable at all times. My haircut and color was PERFECT!!! She listened to everything I said. She educated me on my hair, told me things (quick easy things) that I had never heard before that have completly changed my hair. If you want your hair to look good even when YOU do it. Then Modern's your place!!!
Great services Spa and Salon! – Thanks to the team at Modern Salon and Spa; I have visited several of the locations for several different services and just love it every time.
I recently moved from the Southpark area to downtown and am enjoying the mani/pedi's, blow-outs and color services at the Hearst location. (I love Aveda haircolor -it seems to be the only color that doesn't break off my ends. I usually have light blonde highlights and wear my hair past my shoulders).
Looking forward to my next appointment, will have to check out the Spa!
For men too! – I was referred to Modern Salon by my wife. I thought it was only a salon for women, but I was suprised how many men I saw in there as well getting haircuts. I had the best haircut and such a relaxing head massage. I will definetly return next time.
Are you kidding! – All I can say is I went in for your basic blonde retouch and ended up with ashy ends and peachy roots. After the six hour ordeal, I was told they could not fix it. So I had to go elsewhere and spend $200 to look semi-normal and get 4" cut off. Go anywhere but here. They are full of themselves for no reason. Snobby and untalented. Thanks for not charging me for the mess.
AVOID if you can – I went there for just a trim. Seemed like the hair dresser did not understand the meaning of 1/2 inch. She chopped off more than an inch.... and the attitude was disgusting...as if nothing went wrong. Avoid Kellie Martel - the worst hairdresser that I have had in years. Completely inexperienced and cannot for sure understand what 1/2 inch means. Its time Modern Salon got some experienced hair dressers!!!!!
Great for me AND my husband! – I had gone and left Modern Salon years ago. After about 7 years, I went back to Modern Salon. I was really nervous since I had the same hairstylist for 7 years, but I needed a change. I was SO impressed! I have had countless compliments on my hair on the two hairstylists I've had. I've recommended Modern Salon to many woman and I am recommending it on this site!
