Best Pizza in Miami – I tried one of their pizzas the other day and it was amazing. I've been on a diet almost all my life so when I found out i could have whole wheat instead of white I was excited. They don't even charge extra for that. Not to mention that they are thin crust and have so many fresh toppings that are different from other places. I can't wait to go back and have more pizza on my naughty days.
Great neighborhood restaurant – Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and really good food had me really enjoying my meal here. A delicious brunch (with $4 mimosas) and the great atmosphere will definitely have me coming back here often.
Coconut Grove Gem! – This place is awesome and super chill. You gotta have the pumkin ravioli or one of their awesome wraps. I will definitly be back. Awesome outdoor restaurant!
TERRIBLE – Service is poor.
Food terrible....worse after I found out they failed their health inspection and had rat dropping and a serious roach problem.
Will not return.
When the inspection happened Berries was under construction and renovations. The restaurant is completely outdoors and the restaurant next door "Culebrinas" is the restaurant with an infestation. We are sorry that you had such a bad experience with us during your visit, if you give us a second chance we would like to buy you dinner. Maybe we can change your mind. Just wanted to put all the facts out in the open before Berries is judged over these accusations.
Used to like, wont go back – We used to love this place! But the last two trips have been both disappointing and irritating, so we are going to make our once frequent trips to the Berries a thing of the past.
We went today and the service was very slow (the people next to us sat down at the same time as we did and got their food long before we did). When the food finally arrived, my waffle was cold (literally, cold) and my companion's egg's yolks were runny to the point that we sent them back (ordered over medium).
When my replacement waffle arrived, it was so burned that areas of it were black. Not, dark brown, but black! Very obvious, but they served it to me anyway. The second plate of eggs was better, but varied depending on where you sampled them: some areas were over easy, some were medium(as ordered), and some were well-done.
I showed the waitress my burned waffle, sent it back, and requested that the they just take it off my bill as I didnt want to try a third waffle. She basically just said, "OK", and took it away. At no point in time was there an apology or any remorse whatsoever.
It would have been nice if somebody from management had dropped by our table to see what the problems were, but that never happened. This seems typical of this restaurant.
Other dislikes about today's trip include that the fried potatoes that were with the first plate of eggs were nothing like the second, nor like previous orders of home fries that we had had in the past. Traditionally, their home fries have onions and peppers. The first go round....no onions and no peppers, just potatoes. The second time we were served, they were like they were supposed to be (.....yay?). Also, we couldnt get espresso because the espresso machine was broken from "making too many coffees this morning". Finally, almost comically, the waitress shorted us a dollar when she gave us our change.
This all made us recall our previous trip, during which we had an even worse experience. My girlfriend had ordered a salad with warm goat cheese on it. Whatever they served up as the warm goat cheese was some of the nastiest stuff that either of us had been served in a long time. It was pretty unrecognizable as well as hard to describe. To make a long story short, we ended up sending it back and speaking to one of the two owners. His approach was to act like my girlfriend didnt know her stuff and didnt have an appreciation for fine goat cheese. He then brought out some of what was supposed to be on the salad, and it bore no resemblance whatsoever to the stuff that she had been served. When we politely advised him of this, he just walked away. He obviously never checked out the food that had been served to her, as he would have understood completely. At no point in time did he apologize in any way whatsoever! It was the most profound example of owner callousness that I can personally recall experiencing. I almost opened up a citysearch account at that time so I could write about it. I procrastinated...until today.
The thing that bothered us the most about both experiences is that they really did not seem to care at all. And, just in case you are wondering if we might be difficult people....we're not.
So.....used to like the place...now dont recommend it.
Try Another Restaurant – Our reservations were promptly attended to, but it took 10 minutes before a server found us. It took another 10 minutes to receive water and place settings and one menu as they said they could not find another. It took 20 minutes to receive our bar drinks. There was loud electric rage "music" that they would not turn off. The waitress hinted that some restaurants use the rapid paced music to speed up the eating speed of their clients.
The food (salad and main course) all arrived together. The mahi was cooked perfectly, the mushroom risutto was mush. The selected red wine had a "corked" flavor, but the waitress replaced the wine with another at no charge (first good thing she did).
I would not return to this restaurant again as there are many many other choices of restaurants in the Coconut - Miami Gables - Little Havana area to try. For the restaurant, we noticed that others nearby did not have the service problems we had.
The vibe, menu, and moniker are all tropical at this cozy Grove eatery with a healthy kick. – In Short
Outdoor patio seating surrounds a busy bar, with blenders whirring away on fruit shakes, smoothies, and more potent libations. A smaller dining room is available for those seeking shelter from the elements, but outside is where you want to be. Healthy salads, wraps, and sandwiches feed the mobile crowd by day, before heartier dishes like pumpkin ravioli, grilled tofu, and seared tuna greet the dinner crowd.
Fantastic Food! – My favorite restaurant... very comfortable, casual, atmosphere whether you're there for lunch, dinner or just a coffee and dessert. Although, service can take a little long the staff is very polite. Very nice open atmosphere, a great outdoor romantic setting. Fantastic salads with incredible house dressing, wraps, smoothies, drinks and desserts. A definite must visit!
Good, solid place – I'm a regular at Berries because the food and drinks are tasty and reasonable. Pleasant, friendly ambiance -- the staff is friendly but the service can be inconsistent, even with the same servers night to night. My favorites are the big salads, the pumkin ravioli, and brunch in general. The half-price happy hour 4-7 every day of the week is pretty cool, too.
great ahi, amazing lobster and steamed mussels – Great food, anytime. Pet friendly. They get busy so be patient, especially if you get a new waiter. They are unsympathetic to you if you complain about your food being cold or if your drink is watery. They do take care of it, though. As long as you roll with it, its a good time. Highly recommended for parties too. And beautiful ambience- versatile for intimate conversation to a big loud group.
